i VISITED THIS DOCTOR FOR MY SECOND PREGNANCY FOLLOWING MY FRIENDS ADVICE, THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD, FIRT I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL I WAS 10 TO 12 WEEKS SO HE COULD SEE ME BECAUSE THATS HIS PROCEDURE, BEFORE MY FISRD APPOINTMENT I WAS MISCARRIYING AND HE WAS NOT COMPASSIONATE AT ALL, VERY RUDE AND HIS STAFF IS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE AT ALL, THEY WOULDNT GIVE ME THE RESULTS TO MY BLOOD TESTS AT ALL, I HAD TO ASK AND THEY WOULDNT EVEN HAVE THEM ON RECORD FOR THE LONGEST TIME, ONE MEMEBR OF THE STAFF ****ED BOTH OF MY ARMS TRYING TO GET MY BLOOD DRAWN AND ENDED SENDING ME TO THE LAB SAYING THAT I WAS DEHYDRATED WHICH IN THE LAB THEY GOT IT WITH NO PROBLEM THEY SAID SHE POKED ME ON THE WRONG PLACE THE WHOLE TIME, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HIM OR TELL ANY OF MY FRIENDS OF HIM, HE IS TERRIBLE AND THE STAFF IS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE AT ALL!

Dr. Despres has been my OB/GYN for 7 years. He has helped me through two high-risk pregnancies and is currently seeing me through my third. He and his staff are incredibly supportive and informative. I love that they have ultrasound facilities in-house and that Dr. Despres administers the ultrasounds personally. This allows you to ask questions in real-time and you even get to take your entire ultrasound home on DVD at the end of your appointment. It is fantastic! I absolutely love the family-friendly atmosphere at the office, including the awesome feeding and baby changing room. If you are a new mom, these are a huge comfort during your follow-up visits after delivery. I never feel rushed or stressed while I'm in their office and I know that I can ask even the most odd questions without embarrassment. I truly wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

I rated him a while back and wanted to update. I agree with the last post: I would not recommend him. He is a nice doc, in general, but my birth experience was NOTHING like I told him I wanted. I now know why he strongly urged me to get an epidural and it's because he's so rough when he checks to see how dilated you are. Honestly, I'm glad I had it because I think him checking me was more painful than the contractions I was having at 5 cm. I also did not want an episiotomy, but got one nonetheless. I wanted my husband to cut the umbilical cord: he didn't because doc did so too quickly. All his happene even with me having talked to him specifically about my birth plan. I'm really dreading my next pregnancy if he's my OB.

I saw Dr. Despres for my first pregnancy. True, he is not a chatty person, however he made sure to inform me rather sternly that I needed to sign up for childbirth classes. I was in my 38th week and was already dialated and effaced to the point that while he was on vacation, I would most likely deliver. Unaware of what was happening to me, he was VERY agressive during my exam at stripping my membrains. I started off at one end of the table and ended at the other from pain. His nurse was asking him if he planned on delivering me right there as the doctor was giving me a description of my son's chin. When I got to the hospital in labor, I was told that I was not allowed out of bed (no health problems of any kind). He broke my water and pushed my son up inside of me to allow the fluid to come out. Knew I didn't want an episiotomy but without my husband speaking up, would have had one. I would NOT reccommend this doctor unles you want drugs with a good chance at a c-section!

LOl. i just finished reading all the comments on "Bernie". He's defintiely not a chatty guy. i thought he just didnt care for me. my son was deliverd by c section in august 2008. although not the most personable guy, i think dr. despres is excellent at what he does and very knowledgable. maybe not the best doc for a nervous first time parent looking to build a strong bond and friendship but i was happy to have such a skilled doctor at my side.

Have only seen him 2x so far with this pregnancy. This is my 3rd pregnancy, no live births. I brought in my complete OBGYN history and he flipped through it really fast and said he didn't need any of it. Then he asked if I've had any bloodwork; I said yes, the results should be in my records. Flipped through it again; he didn't see them. I later found them in the same paperwork he saw. I feel rushed when I see him. He answers all my questions, but at one point when I asked something, he said, "there are lots of books on that," and it totally insulted my intelligence. Being the 1st time that I've made it to my 2nd tri, reading about it isn't the same as feeling it. Plus, I've been reading plenty of bks and understand them perfectly well. I'm also weary because he asked if I am going to want the epidural and when I said I'm undecided, he said, "yes, you do want it." I want to be in control of my care. Don't know if I'll switch docs yet. His staff is great though; they are very nice.

I would recommend him to any of my friends. His office is attached to the hospital so I have full confidence that he will be there as soon as I arrive for delivery.

Had a horrible experience with this Dr. Husband was ignored by Dr, and I felt as if my questions always went unanswered. Had issues with BP, and was never sent to a lab or anything for 24 hr test until AFTER GP told me to see OBGYN for BP issues. Went through half of pregnancy with Dr knowing I had Chronic hypertension, but he never did anything to intervine to get rid of the BP issue. Felt very rushed in his office, he had a horrible bedside manner. I would not recommend this Dr to anyone who is going through a first time pregnancy, or a high risk pregnancy.

Dr. Despres delivered by daughter by emergency c-section 8 yrs ago. He's going to deliver my next baby via a scheduled c-section in May. Dr. Despres is a wondeful doctor. Although he's not very chatty, he is an expert in the field & will answer any questions you (or your spouse) may have - without making you feel stupid for asking. Dr. Despres has always made me feel comfortable & I have complete confidence in his care. His staff has been with him for 9 years that I know of & are top notch!

I hac twins with this doctor, they were devlivered with a c section too early, he gave me no steroid shot for their lungs. so they stayed in nicu for 10 days. he wasn't as careful as he needed to be AT ALL with me babies.and making sure they were ready for delivery. And it was Easter weekend when he was operating on me to get the babies, while I was wide open- he was busy telling the other doctor how he wssn't a religious guy so he wasn't doing much for easter-not exactly what you want to hear when your being cut wide open. but bottom line I think the babies were unneccessarly in nicu and it could have been prevented.

He knows his stuff, but is generally very short answering questions. LOVE his staff, wish he was more personable.

He has no bedside manner. He was not helpful at all when I really needed to know what was going on with my body. He just passed me onto another doctor when he couldn't help me.
