Yeah, and be careful when you call the "emergency line." If it's late, and your issue, which could be subjectively interpreted many ways, is not clearly an emergency, Dr. Horowitz will read you the riot act.' If it's late, he will answer prematurely irritated by your interruption of his sleep, I guess. My suggestion would be just not to call. If it's an emergency, then he will say "go to the emergency room; don't call me." If it's not, in his opinion, then you are going to get a lecture on what you did wrong and what a "thinking" person would have done. Just don't use that line. It never turns out okay., either way.
I have suffered with chronic lyme to 4 years and visited dozens of doctors with no success. Dr. Horowitz is the first doctor that gets it. He spent 3 solid hours with me on my first visit and both he and his staff were very kind and put me on the path to finally getting cured. I could not be more thankful that I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Horowitz.
This "doctor" should be ashamed! I've called his office 10, yes 10 times trying to make an appointment to be seen as a NEW patient. I have yet to receive even a single call back! Beyond the unbelievable consult fee he requires it appears that all that matters to him is getting on TV and making money. As someone who suffers daily from Lyme and genuinely needed help it's disgusting to me that someone who claims to want to help patients clearly is only interested in making money. Trust me if you're really sick don't waste weeks trying to get an appointment with this guy. You're just wasting energy you probably don't have. I know that's what I did.
I have been a patient here for a few years. Dr Horowitz is very knowledgeable and has gotten me from pretty unwell to much, much better. He is a good doctor. His staff though are extremely disorganized and rude. To get a call back you have to often call several times. If you mention that you do not get calls back, they become extremely rude and defensive. They cannot handle or accept constructive criticism. This is not new, it's been like this in all my years going there. Dr Horowitz is, like I said, a good doctor but he has mood swings and you will find he's either warm and charming or impatient, a bit rude and arrogant. Depends on the day. He does recommend a lot of supplements, which conveniently are sold there.
I have been a patient of Dr. Horowitz and his NP for years. It is because of them that I have two beautiful (Lyme free) children when no one else could help me. Other comments have mentioned the price. I feel that your health is priceless. There are so many uninformed or misinformed doctors (that accept insurance) out there that do not understand Lyme Disease and the co-infections. Dr. Horowitz and his staff are always on top of the newest and best treatments. Their aggressive treatment is what allowed me to carry a pregnancy full term and even breastfeed after being diagnosed with Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella. The NP and PA on staff work hand in hand with Dr. Horowitz and I feel just as well cared for being treated by them. I do not feel it is a waste of money seeing them (PA, NP) on your first visit. If you are serious about finding a cure, this the man to see!
beautiful tranquil spa like atmosphere. the staff was indifferent which suprised me for the rates they charge..well over a thousand dollars which you have to leave half down for a deposit before your first visit. he seemed more interested in how much you could afford to buy between the supplements (which they conviently sell there ) and the outrageous fees there. i felt foolish that i thought this was a dr. that might care about helping me, rather than getting me to spend spend spend. i won't return and instead have made an appointment with a dr. that another patient i met in the waiting room told me about with reasonable fees and no demands to purchase supplements at more expense than the treatment itself.
One of the best Lyme doctors in the world as far as knowledge, but he's fairly impatient and has an overly high opinion of himself. I've seen two sides of this doctor, the caring side and the borderline obnoxious side. He expects brain fogged patients to write his instructions as quickly as he thinks of them. He should hand patients a protocol instead of expecting very ill patients to take notes. You will be under the care of a PA anyway, so you will only see Horowitz about an hour a year. One of the most uptight Buddists I've ever met. Not saying not to go to him. Just know that he's not the easiest person to deal with. But he is compassionate and will do his best to get you well.
finally someone is willing to listen. My regular doctor looked at my positive test results, and told me--look in the mirror--u dont have lyme u r fine....???? so basically telling me all of my symptoms and bloodwork results are a result of my imagination!!!! Dr. Horowitz and Lauren Yonker (pa) have finally made me feel at ease. They also found a co-infection that was never tested for by other dr's. I have had lyme for years and am well on my way to feeling better thanks to these wonderful people. They are caring, understanding, and knowledgable. They also work with homeopathic and traditional medicine, which I think is awesome. dont hesitate to use these wonderful people!! I finally have answers...and HOPE :)
