06/07/14 3 2 3 3 I do not like him in the first time I met him. He seems to push you doing ivf immediately. I went through his website so I had chosen him for my first mini ivf cycle. And when it failed, he let his staff answer me that he did not no why. When I was doing ivf with him, I got replying emails during the day. But when the transfer failed, I sent emails to ask them, I had to wait for two days to have their email replying. Moreover, I had to pay around 12000 USD for my ivf cycle. But when doing ivf with him, the medications that he asked me to take made me have polyps and fibroids, and I had to pay extra money to remove these. Be careful with this doctor if u do not want to waster your time and money....do not let his website fool u......

12/02/14 1 3 1 1 I was warned that he was a great doctor, but had a horrible bedside manner. After our first ultrasound he told us that my antra follicle count was 1/2 of what my other doctor had projected and that I had the fertility of a 42 year old(I'm 35).He said that we would need a special procedure called Mini IVF and that the entire process would take a year and over $30,000. He was adamant that we needed to be aggressive. After numerous blood tests and ultrasounds,I had never been told of any problem with me. I have normal cycles & I ovulate every month. After days of tears I decided to get a second opinion.I explained our story to the new doctor. He stopped me & said that I was not the first one to tell him this story. A week later he gave me an internal ultrasound and we also did a mock transfer. He confirmed that my antra follicle was accurate and he believed that traditional IVF will work for us.I'm not sure why the discrepancy was there, but my gut is telling me that I was being duped.  See Responses

11/10/13 1 1 1 1 You will ONLY see this doctor at the 1st appointment then you will NEVER be able to talk to him directly! They were super nice and positive while trying to get our money and then it was negative after negative... This was $30,000 that we had saved to do this and we got NOTHING out of it and now we can't afford to do it again. DO YOUR RESEARCH cause we didn't and now after a failed DONOR cycle (None of the 11 mature eggs fertilized. Ya, not sure how that happens), $30,000 lost and not even a phone call from the clinic since, we now know that there are clinics out there that offer 80%-100% guarantee that if you don't have a live birth, your money is completely refunded! Don't just throw away your money with this clinic!

10/09/13 1 1 1 1 For one, you will ONLY see Dr. Silber at the consultation. After that, you will NEVER hear from him nor see him. As far as the staff, they are much less than desirable. Lastly, after 30K, and a failed cycle, you'd think they would atleast call you... Save your money and go somewhere else.

05/07/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Silber made our dream of becoming parents a reality. There is no greater gift. We hold him and his staff in the highest possible regard. When our twin children turned 3, we returned to Dr. Silber's office so he could meet them and he graciously made time for us. We have shared his book with several friends that are suffering the road of infertility. In our opinion, Dr. Silber is the BEST of the BEST in his field.

16/05/13 5 5 5 5 During a very difficult time in my life and the desire to began a family Dr. Silber was my light at the end of the tunnel. I like to complete exam of my fertility to let me know exactly where I stood. I know these answers aren't always what we want to hear but I was ready for someone to give me concrete answers about what my options where and he did exactly that. His office staff was also very helpful throughout the whole process. I recommend him highly to anyone and everyone with infertily problems. I also have a medical background myself so know a little more about what should occur and was extremely satified.  Respond

10/05/13 5 5 5 5 In 2002 I contacted Dr. Silber's office to see about having my husbands vasectomy reversed. My husband had the vasectomy when he was in the military in 1993. We had contacted a doctor prior to Dr. Silber and was told that if he had the vasectomy done in the military that a reversal would most likely not be a success. I was not satisfied with that answer and so I contacted Dr. Silber and boy am I glad we did. Not only was the vasectomy a success but we now have 2 children thanks to the surgery and knowledge that Dr. Silber brings to the table. I would recommend Dr. Silber and his staff any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I never felt uncomfortable with him or his staff. Once my husband was released from the hospital we received a phone call from his office twice in the next couple weeks to make sure he was healing and had no additional pain. They were patient with me in learning to change the bandages. They were only a phone call away for any questions we had.

07/05/13 4 5 5 5 We are thankful for the services provided to us at Dr. Silber's office. The staff was very professional and each step was explained thoroughly as the process progressed. We felt very comfortable asking questions and received answers promptly. Going into surgery for my tubal reversal, I felt very comfortable and informed regarding the expected outcome as well as the impending surgery process. The surgery was a success, and we have since become pregnant with and delivered two very healthy babies (now 4 and 2)! We appreciate the professionalism and services we received!

06/04/13 3 2 2 2 I just finished my IVF cycle with Dr. Silber, unfortunately it did not work out for us, our 2 eggs did not fertilize. Going in Dr. Silber knew I had low ovarian reserve, but he went ahead and used the long Lupron protocol on me suppressing my ovaries too much. After that cycle was canceled, and $3600 was wasted on meds, we moved onto the mini-stim protocol. Right away I was told if this didn't work he would recommend donor eggs. Needless to say when I got my fertility report nothing had fertilized, and the answer I got was "apparently Dr. Silber thinks it is an egg issue, not sperm"...what the heck? "Apparently" an egg issue? Why not try to find out more before just writing us off? It's just aggravating that you only ever see Dr. Silber for your consult and then not again until your retrieval, and you are on his schedule and not your own bodies schedule. Dr. Silber is not the dr to go to if you have DOR. He over uses birth control and Lupron. Not everyone is the same.  See Responses

14/01/13 5 5 5 5 We did two mini-ivf retrievals and 3 frozen transfers within 3 years and that resulted in 3 miracle babies, our son and twin daughters! Our experience with Dr Silber and his staff was wonderful, although dealing with infertility and the medical procedures that go along with wanting to have a family are NOT all pleasant or fun, Dr Silber and staff made the best of the situation we were in. I recommend him to anyone that is struggling with infertility, as he is one of the smartest people I have ever met and has a very supportive staff and the most technologically advanced lab in the area! We are forever grateful to him for his heart and mind, we just think he is the BEST!!!  Respond

14/01/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Silber is a wonderful doctor. We are blessed with our first son and our 3rd pregnancy (due in May) because of Dr. Silber and his staff...Dr. Silber has an extremely high success rate, so this should negate much of the negative comments/reviews by lesser qualified doctors. Going through the IVF process is extremely stressful and Dr. Silber guided me through these stressful moments by sharing relaxation techniques, referring me to a therapist that was able to walk me through my issues/concerns, as well as meeting with my husband and I personally to discuss our personal issues. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Silber and his staff.

07/04/12 5 5 5 5 I am SO GLAD I didn't read these negative comments before meeting Dr. Silber. I have met with other fertility doctors in the area (same doctors people are raving about here in other posts) and they seemed more concerned with me having realistic expectations on costs and multiple attempts than they were confident about a positive outcome. Dr. Silber was always straight-forward and tell-it-like-it-is, but he also reassured me that he would do everything in his power to give us the best possible outcome for a positive pregnancy. We chose to go with Dr. Silber, he recommended a mini-IVF, and I worked closely with the nurse with my medication and monitoring schedule, and WE GOT PREGNANT WITH OUR 1st ATTEMPT!!! The nursing staff were always professional, sincere and supportive, and Dr. Silber was nothing more than honest and sincere. I respect him very much and consider him and his staff a huge blessing in my life.  See Responses

25/01/12 3 2 1 2 We did a round of IVF, got 15 eggs and the day of transfer, we found out that 12 of our embryos didn’t make it, and the 3 that did make it were poor. They transferred the 3 and it resulted in a negative. They later found out that a bad batch of oil killed our embryos! Instead of offering another FULL cycle, they did a mini IVF. The mini only gave us 2 embryos and a thin lining and they did the transfer anyways, which was another negative. They refused to give us another Full cycle, even though the failed cycle was their fault. Dr. Silber doesn’t do an ultrasound guided transfer, and didn’t test us for things that our new doctor ended up finding! The only day you talk to him is in your first meeting and at your retrieval/transfer. The only good review I have is that Karah, one of the office ladies was very helpful and nice. But, I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Silber to anyone, unless you just want to shortcut and wing your IVF. We now go to Dr. Simckes at Fertility Partnership, who we love.  Respond

24/01/12 1 2 1 1 Dr. Silber and his office are horrible. I really wish we had read this website prior to paying this terrible Doctor. My wife was initially very excited after the first appointment but that quickly faded. No less than 3 times I came home to find my wife crying due to the "finacial" person yelling at her on the phone. They acted like debt collectors. Realize that we had only paid a down payment and not used any services. After finally moving forward, we were told that my wife had viable eggs and hopes were high. After spending $900 on meds and spending a week on them we were told that no viable eggs were present and likely never were. Wow what a shock. Ad insult to injury Dr. Silber refused to see us to discuss options but they sure kept $2000 dollars for no actual services rendered. The failed IVF is not the problem, the problem is false expectations and being treated horribly! Please head our warning, if you want IVF or Mini-IVF look elsewhere.  See Responses

05/11/11 1 1 1 1 My experience with Dr Silber was horrible.I was wowed by his website, statistics(provided by him-check CDC),lower costs, but in my opinion he is a joke. He chose mini IVF for me and said ALL mini IVF embryos are frozen.I later found out the reason is because the clomid thins the uterine lining. I WAS USING A SURROGATE! I don't think it thinned her lining, genius! So I was never offered a fresh transfer. He doesn't offer a follow appt after a failed transfer to discuss a new plan, but when you insist on one he is demeaning and says your research is "emotional". He doesn't use ultrasound guided transfer and if you request it he says "I think it's stupid, but I'll do it" and then requires anesthesia?? He holds your embryos hostage until you pay $300 to transfer YOUR embryos to another clinic. My surrogate's information packet had medication errors. Just do your research before considering Dr Silber. I would hate to see someone else left with the emotional/financial burden he has left me in.  See Responses

27/10/11 4 5 5 5 I have been working with Silber for a little over a year now with 2 IVFs and 3 FET. They are a fantastic staff, especially helpful for male infertility and despite multiple trys, which is normal and I am now 6 weeks. This is asolid, professional and caring practice. They are timely in my procedures and nurses are great. A little crowded on the phone lines during monitoring but when you are up for a procedure or a result, there is never a wait so I think they prioritize well. I also have gotten calls and updates over weekends with no complaint. Frankly, I am concerned to see complaints here that then recommend Dr. Ahlering at Sher. These seem insincere and timed with Sher's opening in St. Louis. Dr. A performed a fresh IVF on a friend with OHSS, a very dangerous thing to do (I had the same condition and Silber put me on 3 months rest). She was hospitalized for 17 days and he never called on her and the hospital forced her to fire him for patient neglect.

04/04/11 5 5 5 5 My husband had a vasectomy reversal in July, 2010. From the first time we met Dr. Silber & his staff, they were a complete joy to work with! We had no babysitter for our daughters the day of our consultation & one of the staff watched our girls. She got them snacks, told them stories & got them papers to draw on. The girls loved her SO much, they wanted to go back! My husband & I were so nervous about the procedure, because of the cost, this was our only shot. From the second we talked with Dr. Silber, we had complete confidence that it would be a success! Dr. Silber eased our fears & anxiety & assured us that we were in the best hands. The procedure went fantastic. Dr. Silber spoke with me right away & assured me that everything went great & I now had a fertile husband! When we went for our first analysis just 3 months post op, we were ecstatic to hear the results! His count & motility were back to normal! We are now 9 months post op & happy to say, PREGNANT! Thank you Dr. Silber! : )  See Responses

03/10/10 5 4 5 5 I truly cannot describe in words how happy we are with Dr. Silber and his staff. Prior to us seeing Dr. Silber, we were receiving treatment from another clinic. I cannot stress how different the experience is with Dr. Silber. Dr. Silber and his staff are always available if we have questions. I don't feel like just another patient. Their support, positivity and knowledge is top notch. We recently completed the IVF process and regardless of our results, we are so glad we changed to Dr. Silber. 25/05/10 4 4 4 5 Though our one attempt at IVF did not work, we truly loved Dr. Silber and the assisting OB, Dr. Pineda. We were warned that Dr. Silber didn't always have the "best bedside manner," but on our first meeting with him, we totally disagreed. He was very straightforward, but we considered that a positive. He made us feel comfortable during our initial meeting and even cracked a joke or 2 to lighten the mood. My only complaint was in regard to our IVF coordinator. She is the one we communicated with during the cycle, but she was not the one that gave us our result over the phone that we were not pregnant (she was out of the office or something). I would have appreciated some sort of call from her to follow up and did not get that from her or anyone else in the office. I only got a standard letter about 2 weeks later communicating their sympathies and that they felt that we were good candidates to try again. If we had decided to try, we would have returned to Drs. Silber/Pineda.  Respond

10/05/10 4 2 1 2 Fellow infertile friends: Do not put your trust or money with this physician. His methods are questionable at best. When you don't get a baby, he won't have an answer, only that there is nothing to do differently. He won't be able to tell you why he said your embryos were all "great!" when they were actually barely viable. You have to assume its about money (if you think you have a chance, you will try again) or he is so busy he isn't really in touch with his embryologists. Either way, I question his ethics and warn you to do your research when choosing him. He looks unbelievable on paper, and his website is fabulous, but from what I have learned, heed this advice: Go elsewhere! Don't make the same mistake we did!  See Responses

05/02/10 5 4 5 5 I caution any of you reading the negative posts on this site and advise you to disguard their criticisms. I have NEVER experienced the quality of care received throughout this entire process in any other aspect of my life. My husband had a vasectomy reversal in Feb 2010 and we are thrilled with the nurses and their cooperativeness, the Dr and his brilliance yet ability to maintain a light and personal relationship, and the ease with which the entire process has unfolded. The staff was so incredible that by the time we met with Dr Silber we could hardly drum up any lingering questions. Dr. Silber has our total support in every way and we would recommend any couple to look nowhere else. And for the record, the last thing Dr Silber said to us in our pre-consultation (before even examining my husband) was..."I have no concerns about his sperm." Spoken with a sense of true faith, confidence, and peace, yet absolutely no arrogance...all our fears ended at that point.  Respond

31/08/09 1 1 1 3 I was a nervous wreck during my cycle with Dr. Silber. His staff was rude, inconsiderate and at times inappropriate. When I wasn't progressing as they had thought I would, I was asked "Are you even taking your medications?" I was spending a lot of money and they asked a question like that??? My cycle produced poor quality embryos and I became pregnant and then miscarried after seeing the heartbeat at 7 weeks. The heart rate had been a little slow, which one of the other docs said was "fine" and hurried me out the door. When I called and told them I'd miscarried and that the heart rate had been low, they acted like I should have known that would happen. Then when I wanted to transfer my husband's sperm to Dr. Peter Ahlering's clinic, Silber's office wanted to charge me 200 dollars for transporting it across town. I told Dr. A's office and they gave me the proper container to transport it myself. Dr. Silber's office still charged me 200 dollars before they would release it!  Respond

14/07/09 5 4 5 5 I was told that I would not get pregnant and now have a wonderful two-year-old boy thanks to Dr. Silber and I'm trying for baby number 2. He is simply the best in the business. I was misdiagnosed as was my husband by several other clinics. His fees are the same as or less than other clinics. It is true that you do not talk to him personally very often, but his staff are experts and can answer any questions or get an answer for you. He's not a cold person, but he's not the type to grab you in a bear hug and evidently some of these people who didn't like him wanted to talk to him all the time. He wouldn't be able to help many people if he held everyone's hand. He also wouldn't be able to do the necessary research to come up with the breakthroughs he has if he held everyone's hand. I had nothing but a fabulous experience with him and I live six hours away and travel to Saint Louis just to go to his clinic.  Respond

23/06/09 1 1 1 1 Dr. Silber and his staff are horrible. Dr. Silber is out for your money and that's it. He didn't order any tests at all and told us that our only route was IVF. We thought he was right because he's supposedly "the best" out there. We went through with IVF and didn't end up with any eggs or embryos. I was told to call the day after ER to get my ET date and time. I did and his staff put me on hold for quite a while only to tell me that my eggs were injectible. My husband called back only to find out that they were shady and had lied to us. One of the girls told my husband that none of my eggs fertilized. I had to call them to ask if I would get a refund for services not rendered. This all happended in Jan 2009. Two weeks ago, I got a letter dated March 30th saying that he was sorry that our IVF failed due to my eggs not fertilzing and that he recommended another cycle. I'm not seeing a wonderful dr at SIRM.

The cost for the procedures they offered was much larger than that of Dr Silber with lower success rates. The other facililites never gave us better than a 10-15% chance of getting pregnant while Silber always told us we had a 60% chance. 20/04/09 1 1 1 1 Please, please get 2nd and 3rd opinions before investing your hard earned money and hopes in Dr. Silber. When we were told IVF/ICSI was our only option for conceiving due to severe male factor, we did tons of research. On paper, Dr. Silber looks great, but in person it is another story entirely. To make a long story short, I was never diagnosed with any problems, yet after our first failed attempt and second retrieval attempt, we were told donor eggs were our only hope. Unless of course we wanted to pay for multiple cycles and "bank" our eggs. We felt money was a key factor for him and I thank God every day we moved on to Dr. Ahlering before we were out of funds. This is bcoz he overcharges and they pay the median fees of the region which works out to be 20%!!!!There is more…You can never speak to him.And the most Important and MOST frustrating Part::::They will forget to thaw your embryos on the right date and if you don’t take care they will even charge you for the missed appointment!!!!(Imagine taking all those pills and shots and emotional trauma and not getting your embryos transferred….whew!)

He lacks communication skills and has bad side manners.Dr. Silber and his staff are focused more on the business side than taking care of patients. THEY DO NOT CARE. I am seeing Dr.Ahlering who is the opposite of Dr. Silber. Dr. Silber does not understand that thedefinition of good doctor is the one who care about patients and make good decisions and communicate with them. I tried to reach him after my 2-nd procedure for an explanation, but he refused to talk to me. Please, do not waste your money, time to his clinic because you will regret it as I am now. 10/07/08 3 2 2 1 This doctor apparently thrives under people's ignorance. He is no better than a Mexican quack. Claims to be an expert in IVF procedures but when we got it done through him, it did not work and we accepted the results. But we didn't expect the kind of cold shoulder that we received from him. He didn't have a decent explanation as to why it didn't work but instead gave out contradictory statements as what the reasons were behind the failure. Guy is a fake and God is up there watching and will issue his judgment on this bloke who has been ripping people off for years. HE IS NO GOOD. Someone out to report this to the nearest authority to yank his license. Hope people read this and come to their senses.  Respond

25/06/08 5 4 4 5 Dr.Silber preformend my husband's VR in August O8. His office is always quick to return our messages, if we've had to leave one. We are still awaiting to achieve a baby out of it all, but it appears the surgery itself has been a suscess!! They also freeze sperm found at the time of the surgery just in case they are needed for IVF in the future so that is a relief in itself to have a back up plan. I would recommend Dr.Silber to anyone looking for a great VR doctor.

16/03/08 5 4 5 5 My husband and I struggled with infertility for 7 years. We saw several doctors and finally decided to have Dr. Silber perform our IVF/ICSI. His office staff were extremely supportive, they worked around our schedule as much as possible, the drug store they recommended even delivered my meds to me at work. At the time of our procedure we were given about an 8-12% chance of success. We did become pregnant and delivered a very healthy baby. We think the world and all of Dr. Silber and his staff and highly recommend him.  Respond

14/09/07 1 1 1 1 For all the people out there, this is a wake-up call. Dr. Silber isn't at all cracked up to be a great doctor. Infact he is no better than an average quack. We had a procedure done with him and he did not have the courtesy to tell us the results, were yelled at by his staff. Dr. Silber himselfs bad mouths the industry but he himself is party to all the dirty work. All he cares for is MONEY and doesn't accept Insurance. What a pathetic excuse for a doctor. So folks, if you need IVF treatment, go to any body out there but this guy, you will be better off. This guy is phony and a moron.  Respond

28/06/07 2 2 1 5 We used Dr. Silber for our two IVF attempts. His office was very difficult to get ahold of during monitoring, the monitoring line was busy for the first half hour. Half the time the staff were unsupportive during your conversations. We tried to go into the office to ask questions and they told us that wasn't usually how it was done, they would handle the questions on the phone. You have to leave phone messages for the IVF team and it takes them several hours if not a day to return your call. Our test results and options were never discussed with us in person, it was all handled through phone conversations. The office left us feeling abandoned after both IVF. He has negotiated fair cash rates with the hospital, the radiologist and other assisting doctors which made the procedures reasonable.
