:( Click to report rating *  5/7/09 1 1 1 Unless you have very low standards, stay away from this doctor!! He & his staff are rude & disrespectful! The office is so poorly managed that I can't imagine any patient coming back for a return visit! On my first(and only visit!) I waited 70 minutes past my app't time w/no info before asking the desk how long before I would be seen. They referred me to the doctor himself, who told me he had no idea how much longer it would be; he went on to list the woes of the "emergencies" in his office including a man who was crying because he could not make love to his wife! (sounds life-threatening to me!) As if to justify his inability to maintain any semblance of a schedule, he abruptly told me how hard he works! I told him we all work hard, that I too have a calendar to keep, & that I only wanted to know how much longer it would be. He replied that he works much harder than me (since he didn't know me, I am not sure how or why he drew that conclusion). I left the office; I'd never go back!

:( Click to report rating *  3/31/09 1 1 1 After making me wait more than 1 hour in a crowded waiting room, Dr. Taubin deigned to bestow THREE WHOLE minutes upon me. Rather than allowing me to ask the questions that brought me to the office, he spent the time lecturing me about smoking (which yes, I agree, is bad, but not the reason i came to see him). He then turned me over to a nurse for some travel inoculations. Despite assurances from my insurance company that these were covered, the staff charged me for these shots, saying that insurance companies never pay and that I needed to submit a claim. They also overcharged me for the co-pay. I called my insurance company, who called Dr. Taubin to a)notify him that he was in breach of a contract by charging patients for covered treatments and b) tell him to pay me back in full. The person who deals with these things only works half a day per week, and it ended up taking me over 4 months to get reimbursed. I will NEVER go back to Dr. Taubin.

:) Click to report rating *  3/3/09 5 4 5 Dr. Taubin is an AWESOME doctor. I have been going to him for years along with many of my family members, friends and co-workers. He is very busy and you may have to wait a little but it is worth the wait. Dr. Taubin always makes me feel better and he is very thorough. He can always get me an appointment with a specialist or radiology center right away rather than waiting weeks to get something done. Dr. Taubin starts very early which is the best time to see him and you don't have to take off of work! His office is a "mom and pop" doctors office rather than a factory like some of the offices that I have been to. Dr. TAubin is very personable and returns calls even on the weekends and evenings. Dr. Taubin in an excellent doctor and I would recommend him to anyone. Dr. Taubin is the best!!!

:( Click to report rating *  9/12/08 1 1 2 I saw Dr. Taubin for the first time last week. As almost everyone else has said, it took well over one and a half hours to be seen. When I was finally seen, as a new patient, no one took a medical history, asked what I was allergic to, took my blood pressure, or did any of the things that are standard especially with a new patient. Furthermore, when Dr. Taubin looked in my nose, ears, and mouth with the same tool, actually placing the instrument inside of my nostrils and ears, without any kind of shield- very gross and unsanitary. Also, the bathroom smelled very strongly of urine. At this point I have been trying for the past two days to get my blood work results and talk to him as this is what he said I should do, however the phonelines close at 11:40am for their supposed 12:30 lunchtime office closing and when I do get through they just say to wait until he calls me back. A very disappointing experience all around and I'm already searching for a new doctor.

:( Click to report rating    7/21/08 1 2 1 My chief complaints: Rushed - I felt like I was being 3rd-degreed the way the questions were thrown at me. Did not have time to think. Office was dirty and very disorganized. Bedpan in the window. Chaos was the order of the day and the worst part was when the doctor was checking the chart outside another patient's door. As he proceeded to go in, the nurse/ofc asst yelled at him that he was going into the wrong room & that she had told him that already. He was supposed to come to my room." He said "Oh, sorry" and came directly to my room. I was embarrassed for him and troubled because I have never heard an asst talk to a doctor in that manner and tone of voice nor have I ever witnessed that response from a doctor. Lastly, assembly line outside his ofc to finalize visit before being released - had to wait in hall behind 2 other patients along with interruption while he was on the phone. Never again.

:( Click to report rating    7/2/08 1 1 1 This is the worst doctor that I have ever encountered in my life. It was my first visit. He had the communication skills of a slug on cocaine. He was impolite, unengaged, and unfocused. This individual shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. Under no circumstances should you even give this doctor a chance. He's pathethic, messy, disorganized, and lacks the social skills to effectively deal with patients.

:) Click to report rating    6/16/08 3 2 4 I had my first appointment with Dr. Taubin last week, and I was disappointed by the hour-long wait, but impressed by the Dr's knowledge when he met with me. The physical took almost no time, as he seemed to be multi-tasking, asking me questions, while he took vitals and did the examination. The Dr. gave great advice on travel health, as he is or was the Nat'l Geographic Dir of Medicine, and was able to cite immediately to the 4 vaccinations/preventatives that I would need for my destination. He seems to be very kind but rushed, as most others have said.

:) Click to report rating    6/12/08 1 1 4 new patient-referred by colleague; arrived on time and sat in the waiting room for 1 1/2 hours; asked desk clerk when I would be seen by doctor, she responded with her head down-rude!; sat in the patient room for another 10 min before before being seen by doctor;doctor performs the vitals; phone rings numerous times before it is answered. you get the answering machine; Dr. Taubin is pleasant and knowledgeable in his profession, however he should consider his patients first, hire a nurse practitioner and get new front desk staff with a pleasant personality. Based on my office visit on 6/11/08, I would not return as a patient.

:( Click to report rating    6/9/08 1 1 1 Front desk a disgrace, very chaotic office, always over-booked by about 2 hours, incompent staff, open very few hours per day, doctor has about 5 minutes for patient, lots of mistakes made in billing, scheduling, etc. If you've not signed up with him yet, don't!!!!

:( Click to report rating    3/31/08 1 1 1 Long wait, rude staff, never sent me a follow-up on my tests. Dr. Taubin diagnosed me with allergies, and when I went to an allergist she said I had bronchitis. Thanks, but no thanks.

:( Click to report rating    3/13/08 1 1 1 Incredibly long waits in the office, short and rushed period with the doctor, poor and unhelpful and downright rude staff. Further, there were regular attempts to overcharge -- staff tried to collect for yearly flu shots that were covered by almost all insurance! This doctor has a good reputation amongst his peers -- was rated a top doctor by Washingtonian when we first went to him. But his patients hate the practice ... just listen to the complaints in the waiting room. Lots of patients just walk out after waiting for an hour or two or more. Staff is the worst I've seen in a medical office.

:| Click to report rating    2/20/08 1 1 2 Dr. Taubin is a good guy, but I agree with other posters that his staff stinks, the waits are totally unacceptable and he is very rushed. I finally decided to leave when I went in with severe back pain that he misdiagnosed as a torn muscle, when it was really just a strained neck.

:( Click to report rating    12/10/07 1 3 1 I'm dissatisfied with Dr. Taubin. He's rude and unhelpful. He's a pulmonary specialist yet I had to press him to order tests even though in a short time I had tonsillitis, possibly pneumonia, and other upper respiratory infections. If I don't write down what my symptoms are then the visit is a waste because he moves so fast I might forget. I have to push to get questions answered. Also, he'll want to refer you for anything requiring more than antibiotics. The only good thing I can say is the waits haven't been about 30 minutes, usually less. But I agree with others that his staff is generally disagreeable. Maybe it's the tone he sets. Given that he was rated a top doctor by Washingtonian Magazine, I have to wonder about all of their ratings. I've been asking around for a new doctor who is highly recommended and taking new patients, but it's beginning to feel like Mission Impossible. To sum up I can't think of anyone I dislike enough to recommend him to.

:| Click to report rating    10/25/07 3 3 2 Dr. Taubin seemed rushed and wasn't thorough at all. The full examination was about a minute or less and we didn't discuss my medical history. Seeing this doctor was a waste of time and money.

:| Click to report rating    3/29/07 1 1 Great doctor, personally, I like him and he is a good guy. HIS STAFF STINKS. Can't say enough how utterly worthless they are. Rude, slow, incompetent at billing (TRUST ME, YOU DON'T WANT TO FIND OUT), and they don't give two bits whether the patients are happy or not. I'm amazed at how such a good doctor can have such an absurdly bad staff.

:) Click to report rating    12/18/06 1 5 Was referred to Dr. T with caveat that he is brusque but an extremely good physician. I had seen a different dr twice before for the same condition and taken two rounds of antibiotics with no lasting improvement. Found his bedside manner to be fine. The staff were pleasant enough; I did wait over an hour (not the longest I've ever waited somewhere, but on the high end). He does talk quickly and had a lot to say, so I asked for paper so I could take notes. Due to some mixup, my 2 calls for test results during the week did not generate a response, but he called me on a Sunday to follow up which I found impressive. Although a little assertiveness was needed, it was very much worth it to have someone who got me on the road to recovery after being sick for six weeks and out of work almost three... and told me (without being asked) how to head this recurring problem off at the pass next time.

:( Click to report rating    12/16/06 1 1 It's hard to get an appointment with him. He has been my doctor for almost 2 years, and I have never seen him in person. Whenever I try to make an appointment he is either on vacation or doing something else. He is one of the main reasons why I am changing my insurance from Mamsi to BCBS because the doctor seem to never be available when you need them or they drop my insurance.

:( Click to report rating    11/26/06 1 2 I have to agree with the reviews already listed. The waiting time is not acceptable. I could understand it if he spent a lot of time with his patients but my experience has always been extremely rushed. I even started scheduling appointments at 7:30 (when the office opens) and I still wait at least two hours. I don't even know how that is possible. I think I'm done with Dr. Taubin as well - I've been a patient for 2 years and have been frustrated during each visit. I hope someone in his office reads this.

:( Click to report rating    11/15/06 1 2 Dr. Taubin is a nice guy, but after using him as my primary care doc for three years, I'm calling it quits. The waits are horrendous. You're lucky to get 3 minutes of his time, and his diagnoses are rushed, so it was hard to tell how knowledgable he was. After submitting to some rather laborious tests for one illness, I was told he would get back to me with the results. He did not, and when I called his office, I was told he was on vacation and he would have contacted me if there was something wrong. Recently I arrived for an appointment as he was leaving. His staff had cleared his afternoon schedule so he could attend to a matter at the hospital, but no one bothered to call me before or during my 30 minute trek to his office in the middle of my work day. I'm done.

:( Click to report rating    11/10/06 2 2 I agree with others that he has a terrible office staff and he rushes his patients. More importantly though, I am never confident with his diagnoses. His advice seems scripted and he is very quick to denounce my symptoms as "nothing" or "something that will go away with time"--making me feel like I am always making a big deal about nothing when I go to see him. He is also not very professional. In fact, I went to him for a physical and during the physical--which last about 2 minutes--he didn't close the door all the way. I stopped the physical and told him he needed to close the door before continuing.

:| Click to report rating    10/4/06 1 3 His office overbooks so you will wait a LONG LONG time for a rushed 3 minute visit. The staff is incompetent in every way and could care less about their duties.

:( Click to report rating    9/24/06 1 2 I waited for 2+ hrs for Dr. Taubin afer which he spent no more than 3 minutes with me and provided me with no useful info except for some general phone numbers to other doctors. I could have checked this same info on my insurance's website in 2 minutes without having to waste my morning and pay $20 in co-pay. My recommendation if you would like to feel completely unimportant to your doctor: go elsewhere!

:| Click to report rating    9/14/06 2 3 While Dr. Taubin is pleasant enough, I agree with others that he is hurried. If you have a variation of a cold/flu/bronchitis, he'll tell you without doubt about 100 times to "take a hot shower, and hot tea with lemon" . And he constantly tries to push nasal saline and the same antibiotic. His staff is rude, and not helpful in the least. Best time to go is SUPER early in the morning without an appointment. If you make an appointment, it seems as though you actually have to wait LONGER!

:| Click to report rating    8/22/06 1 1 I have had to wait up to 2.5 hours for Dr. Taubin to do a 5 minute physical. He's so rushed and busy that he doesn't have time for you at all.

:( Click to report rating    8/2/06 1 1 I agree with all the other comments about the incompetent staff and the rushed visit with the Doctor. I once called to get some test results b/c I had not heard from Dr. Taubin for a few days. I was told that if anything was wrong, Dr. T would call. I pressed for verification, so the nurse checked and told me my blood work was okay. When I told I her I did not have blood work or urine, she said that is fine too. Well, I went elsewhere after that. And you should too.

:| Click to report rating    2/7/06 1 2 Dr. Taubin seems to be a very nice doctor. He talks really fast so you have to pay close attention, otherwise you'll have to ask him to repeat himself. The wait time is ridiculous. Patients should not have to sit in a waiting room over 2 hours and then another 15 to 30 mins once the nurse calls you back. When I mentioned the wait time to another doctor, she stated that whoever is doing to scheduling is overbooking the patients. I got a diagnoses of you're fine, knowing myself that I was not. There was a problem, but because of him hurrying trying to get to the next patient he didn't take the time to hear.

:) Click to report rating    12/19/05 1 3 Visiting Dr Taubin is a harried experience, at best. Unless you've been seeing him for 30+ years, you will barely have a chance to get a word in as he pokes, prods, and shoves his diagnosis down your throat. Even in emergency situations, be prepared to wait upwards of 2 hours to be seen. And if you need a referral, forget about it. His staff will lose it, forget about it, or otherwise screw it up so that you'll spend more time trying to sort things out than in offices been treated. I'm sure Dr Taubin was once the great doc that Washingtonian claims, but today his office is a patient factory where very little attention will be paid to you or the particulars of your situation. Like the feeling of waiting 2 hours to be seen for 4 minutes? This office is for you...otherwise, go elsewhere.

:) Click to report rating    8/8/05 1 4 Dr. Taubin is knowledgable and very courteous. However, his staff more than makes up for it through sheer idiocy. Be prepared for a staff that doesn't answer phones, schedules so many patients that you'll be waiting 2 hours after your appointed time for a visit, and can't seem to interact with an insurance company to save their lives. Let me say it very bluntly, Dr. Taubin is an OK doctor, but his office's service completely cancels out whatever qualities Dr. Taubin personally has. GO ELSEWHERE.
