A very rude doctor who showed absolutely no empathy and while patient was in shock at diagnosis, was abusive and critical, Ugh! I decided to abandon treatment rather than deal with this doctor.
I waited months to see this dr regarding reflux I have had for 14 yrs. I came with the request to have a scope to determine damage in my esophegus. After reading my file, he noticed that I had IBS, then launched into a speil regarding fiber in my diet... comparing me in study insinuating I needed to loose weight. He never once asked me what I did to helpit. assuming I was a poor eater, wrong. He made me feel stupid. I am knowlegable about longterm affects of GERD,genetic in my family, not addressed on his questionaire. he felt my throat, my stomach and said I was on alot of pain meds, I have chronic pain and Deg. disc, and Fibro... he never even looked in my throat. Then sent me out with no plan for follow up and a paper in my hand on a high fiber diet.... I was so mad I wanted to slam the door on my way out... He waisted months of my life in hopes of getting help. now I will have to find someone else who will address the purpose of the appointment. I found him an unfeeling Dr.
Dr. T'ien is a highly respected surgeon with who has practised for years in the Comox Valley. I have had a colonoscopy with him. He put me at ease instantly. He has a direct way of speaking, but gets right to the point. He exudes confidence and competence and instills that feelling in his patients.
Dr. T'ien may appear rude to the uninitiated but after several surgerys with him, I see him as very direct and concerned with his patient--in addition to being an excellent surgeon. He is not always punctual but I doubt any surgeon can always schedule precisely.
Dr. T'ien has a very rude, abrupt manner. He assumes that he has all of the answers and that the patient knows absolutely nothing. Not only does he exhibit poor communication skills but tends to minimize the distress of the patient which is both disrespectful and demeaning.
