20/12/13 2 3 3 3 My family doctor referred us to Dr Patel and after reading these reviews online and calling into the office I cancelled the appointment and found another Doctor. It is very sad that so many parents have such a negative take on this Doctor. I really hope that he and his staff care enough to make a change because from a prospective patient's point of view It does not look encouraging. It is really hard to not be judgemental under these circumstance, there is an old saying that where there is smoke .... there is a fire. I cannot give a rating but the system is for one so, i will choose 3 for everything to be fair to Dr. Patel.  Respond

20/11/12 2 2 1 1 When my son was born I had no choice but to take him to Dr Patel for the first few months, what a terrible mistake. This man has no manners, he is USELESS. When my son was 6 months old, I asked him to check his throat as I noticed he had trouble eating and was becoming feverish the previous day. He told me that he'll check him if my 6 month old son LETS HIM!!!! He doesn't know how to approach a child! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS DR PLEASE.  Respond

30/10/12 4 5 5 5 Dr Patel has been our pediatrician for 5 years. He has always been helpful. Whenever my children required to see a specialist, Dr Patel has always given us referrals. Whenever I wanted a physical I was able to get an appointment. I am very punctual and so is Dr Patel. He has always treated myself and my children with respect.  Respond

20/04/12 1 3 1 4 This doctor is very good but he dosen't realize his reputation is being put down by his own staff. Specially one of the receptionist on duty who seem to be made to work without her wish. She speaks so rudly with patient. We complained several times but looks there is no change not sure how can someone doing such a bad job but Dr patel still keeping her on the job. If you request an appointment she gives date on her wish without hearing about the issue and if you are nice enough to call ahead of time to cancle the appointment because you think child is doing good...she would give lecture on why did we book it and why did we not cancle it before as if I could predict my chuld would be doing good on that particular date and time. Doctor there is still time throw her out and your rating will be 5 out of 5.  Respond

09/12/10 2 1 1 1 Very rude, not friendly at all with either the parents or the child. Does not look like he enjoys his work, never smiles, never says a word while checking your child. Basically goes in and out of the room without giving you any info unless you ask, and even then he give a very quick response or not answer it at all. In conclusion, not someone you can depend on to look after your child.  Respond

15/09/10 2 4 1 2 Dr. Patel as a pediatrician never checked my baby's growth rate and development. I was breastfeeding solo and when my baby was not gaining a lot of weight I assumed all was well because she was weighed at each visit and he never told me there was any cause for concern. I assumed it was genetic. I was reluctant to ask him questions cos he usually brushes them off anyways. When she was still very skinny at 7 months, I brought it to his attention. He tried to brush it off but I insisted. That was when he flipped through my baby's file and checked her growth chart. He told me that since her 3rd month her growth had slowed down; she was not getting enough milk. He asked me to start giving her formula. I felt very bad that he did not notice this as a pediatrician and I really hope there's no permanent damage. It's clear that he does not check his patient's charts; he just comes in, gives shots and goes out.The only time he asked questions about her development was at 9months check up.  Respond

14/07/10 1 1 1 1 If there was a rating of O on this site, I would use it for Dr.K.Patel. Not only is he rude, but he is ill-mannered and impatient. These are traits that a doctor dealing with children should not have at all. When my son was crying rather loudly from seeing the needle that he was going to get, Dr.Patel told my husband and I that my son was the worst child he ever saw! If I was a weak at heart woman, this comment would have crushed me. But I knew that the fault lied, not in my son, rather in the doctor who was having a bad day and didn't have an ounce of patience in him to calm a crying baby of 19 months. I would be crying at the top of my lungs too if I saw a scary face like that which never ever smiles and ever talks to the child. I wonder what Dr.Patel was thinking when he chose pediatry as his profession?  Respond

22/06/10 1 1 1 1 I am 100% agree on all comments as we also had same experience and now thinking to change doctor. And bad thing is that there is no action we can take against this doctor. It would be nice that if we can complain against this type of doctor and just kick his ass from clinic. As what the purpose of having doctor certificate as you cant even guide your patient properly and specially parents who had new born baby and really worried about their child ? its really pity that there is no solution for this issue.......... hey guys we really need to kick this person out from Canada and need to cancel his doctor certificate. I like to add more things as, he always misguide parents by providing incorrect information and encourage for extra vaccine which really isn't necessary for new born kids (eg. diarrhea and vomiting vaccine). We personally believe that this doctor is worst doctor i ever see in my life and never ever recommend to any person in future.  Respond

01/04/10 1 2 1 1 I have a first born and I expected my paediatrician to be my one stop for information about feedings, illnesses, shots, etc. Dr. Patel doesnt' ask about how I feed him, or anything else for that matter. I'm the one who asks specific questions which he doesn't like to answer. He's also always rushing out of the room when you're talking to him. He came highly recommended to me, however, I don't find him to be very helpful. Mind you he does give my son his shots on time, however, no value added. Did I also mention that I travel all the way from Brampton to his office thinking that he was the best. Should have done my research to begin with. I'm now looking around for another pediatrician closer to home. If I'm looking for someone to just administer shots might as well stay closer to home.  Respond

04/02/10 3 4 1 2 I was referred to this doctor and I will never again take anyone's reference until I research. This Doctor is so rude and he acts like he is better then his patients. He barley said a word to me or asked me if I had any questions about my first newborn son. As I started to ask him a question he quickly walked out of the room. I will NEVER go back to him and now searching for a new Pediatrician. Stay Away from this COLD Doctor.  Respond

13/01/10 1 1 1 1 My daughter had severe dizziness. My family doctor refer him. Appointment was @ a month after referance day. I request staff for early appointment, but denied. I had to take her to emergency then ENT and then Neurologist. (Process of 2 months with all test etc.) While on scheduled appointment day of this doctor, I took a day off from my job. An hour before scheduled time staff called me "Today Doctor is and will not in office". I asked for next day appointment. I got another appointment after 3 months. What do you expect from this doctor?  Respond

24/11/09 1 2 1 2 Dr Patel if you can call him that has no empathy for his patients. I was declined care for my child because I did not have $25 for the late fee for an appt I called to cancel 72 hours in advance, his staff told me to walk to Trillium hospital to get the money with my sick child to get the money before I could see the doctor. Apparently they write everything down but they also forgot to fax over a requsition to a specialist for 6 months until I followed up. His staff act as though they are above everyone. Doctor Patel it is time for you to retire and spare your poor patients your attitude and complete boredom wiht this profession. The only reason he is puntual is because he has no patients and is the only pediatrician accepting new patients after 30 years of practise
Paid (or co-pay): $25

03/11/09 2 3 2 3 I am switching doctors at the moment. Dr. Patel should not be a Pediatrician. He is cold and unfeeling. His staff shows no affection towards children. I found Dr. Patel to be condescending when responding to questions about my child's health. He never asks any questons about my child's development not does he follow-up on any issues from the previous visit. He brushes off concerns about vaccinations, allergies, etc. I would never recommend him and I am disaappointed that I have wasted the time to take my child to him for two years. It seems the only motivation for him is money as he shows no joy in working with chidren whatsoever.  Respond

02/11/09 3 3 2 3 Not sure about this doctor. I've attended at his office and have been treated different everytime I was there. Sometimes the staff is nice and sometimes very busy and kinda ignore you. Like the other people, he always seem to be in a hurry and never wants to prescribe meds - which is a good thing. Doessn't always answer questions and you leave the office wondering why did you even go.  Respond

31/10/09 1 5 1 2 One of his staff is a chinese lady. She is great. Another staff is an East Indian lady - She is a horrible, unfriendly, insensitive and selfish woman. Dr. Kirit Patel is OK. He does not make you wait long. But he is full of prejudice. He is rude and rough with Children and their parents as well. One time I was talking to him. He mentioned that he has worked all his life as a doctor outside of Ontario. Now is old and wants to enjoy city life. Now he is practising this for fun. Well its fat money as well. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.  Respond

15/07/09 3 3 1 1 Absolutely horrible physician with no bedside manner. Provides information in rude and sarcastic manner. Mocks my comments and has even responded in anger when questions asked. Dismisses legitimate health concerns of my 6 month old. Never diagnosed her extensive eczema requiring second opinions. Disappointing.  Respond

17/06/09 3 2 3 3 I believe that Dr. Patel is an able doctor, but not a people person. We thought about switching to a different paediatrician when our son was just a few months old because we did not think that he addressed many of our concerns as 1st time parents. I believe we (or maybe I - my wife is still wary) accepted him for whom he is as our son got older - he's now 23 mths. It does bother us that he does not have any coverage when he is away from the office. Also we've had varied experience with his staff - some occasions the experiences have been good; at other times they have been below par. Personally, I have tried to be polite to him and his staff - I used to remember their names and addressed them by name when I called to make an appointment or when I show up for one. This improved my experience. We also show up with tit bits of information we researched on the internet or otherwise and ask him specific, perhaps leading, questions. We are still patients for the moment.  Respond

08/01/09 1 1 2 2 I have tried time & time again to justify staying with this doctor as he is with Trillium Hospital, but after him moving locations 3 times in 4 yrs & the atrociously rude staff he has working there, it is getting extremely difficult. Every appt you will wait a min of 45-60 mins as they always double book, only to be seen for less than 3 mins. He misdiagnosed my 1 yr old with "heat rash" for 3 mths when it was eczema, as well as I have to wait 14 weeks for my 3 yr old's check up (which is about 5 minutes long). He has no bedside manner to speak of & while he is definitely not rude, he is very curt & rushes you out the door. He doesn't make any eye contact & does not follow up on previous concerns ie: my 20 mth old was diagnosed with peanut allergies & he was the one who sent the recommendation (after me reminding them), but never asks how it's going. I understand that doctors are very busy these days, but when your patients are solely children, this is an unacceptable way to practice.  Respond

19/11/08 3 3 1 2 I believe that he could be a good Doctor, if he just didn't tantrum so easily. I got along better with him, than did my wife, he was kind of dismissive to her most times. -Really poor personality at the best of times. I never had a problem with the lack of willingness to prescribe that I have seen described here, not everything requires meds., some things do.  Respond

17/09/08 1 1 1 1 I agree on all of the negative comment mentioned by various patients and clients. You can judge Dr. Kirit Patel with the front staff he has hired and that too is very rude. I believe Dr. Kirit Patel likes to serve only Gujrati patients and hence tend to misbehave with the rest of the people other then gujrati community. We were recommended to him just because the doctor who referred thought that we are Gujrati's but we are not. In fact this is the tendency of the businesses run by gujrati people in GTA as they tend to be ****. But expecting the same from a Dr. and that too Child Specialist is very sad. He was at a different location earlier and not sure why he moved from there. Could be that people in that community do not want to come with there kids and hence his business was low. Now he is even at a worse location and his office is also not kids friendly. It seems something went wrong in the earlier place with the patients that lead him to leave. Not recommended at all for any one  Respond

10/03/08 5 3 1 1 We went to see Dr. Patel at the family care center in Mississauga's Trillium Hospital. He was extremely abrasive. Our son is only six months old he did not answer any of our questions/concerns. Provided no alternatives as he would not prescribe medicine. The x-ray radiologist noted infection, he said he analyzed it himself and there was not one... Our son can HARDLY breathe and has a raspy cough. This has been going on for at least 4 weeks now. He simply did not care what we had to say. He told us "this is what happens when you have kids, they get sick and you deal with it"... He had no people skills either. He was very rough with our son infact he used extensive force for a six month old. I am further launching a complaint with the hospital. In doing so I learned that the prior two patients from the same day have initiated complaints as well... HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED PEDIATRICIAN  Respond

28/12/07 3 5 1 1 Horrible bedside manner to say the very least. My 18 month old was having an issue where she was vomitting every night 45 minutes after going to bed. Dr. Patel advised that it was a behavioral issue, and that I should let her sleep in the vomit to teach her to stop. I obviously did not follow his advice. Instead, I cut back her milk consumption and the vomiting stopped. I could not believe how callous Dr. Patel was, especially since he is dealing with children.  Respond
