I just finished the CORE program with Dr Dahi. A week ago another patient attacked me verbally and brought me to hysterical tears. I was curious why the Dr nor the Psych nurse stepped in. Unlike the last writer I had absolute faith in Dr Dahi. The group therapy has a purpose. It brings a section of society in to relate with each other and at times to practice dealing with really hard stuff with the presence of a highly qualified psychiatrist. As it turns out the "attack" I experienced led to a breakthrough for me in dealing with my past. The exact same thing happened to the fellow that attacked me. We hugged this very day and likley some lights went on for several other patients. Dont let this quiet man fool you. He is calculated and proactive right down to expression he has when he stares at the floor. He misses nothing. When its time...he gives it to you. You bleed and heal. He is doing exactly what God put him here for. Its his specialty, just like Whitney Houstons purpose to sing.
i had him twice in inpatient psychiatry over the last 5 or 6 year. the first time it was okay. he talked during most of our meetings, and i listened. this time around, my stay was a traumatic experience to say the least. basically, he accused me of faking my symptoms and discharged me 3 hours after i spent the entire weekend in seclusion following a suicide attempt. i seriously considered filing a complaint against him w/cpsbc.
I have to review my remarks. He will get revenge and be quite mean about it if you question him about his practices. I think he is a dangerous self centred man who can do great damage as above.
Dr Dahi was the worst doctor I have come into contact with. All he did was give me a lot of drugs and told me that what I was feeling was wrong. Thank god I came in contact with another dr who actually cared and wanted to help. I dealt with dr dahi back in 2000 and 2001, he only made me worse by drugging me. I am now happy and healthy no thanks to him.
While I understand the previous comments with regards to Dr Dahi, we do need to remember that psychodynamic therapy concerns your early years and how they have effected you as an adult. I too was very upset with an attack on one group member, and I do not understand why it was handled the way it was. Looking back we were probably learning about the result of unkind behaviour as I know those who did attack regretted it later. Dr Dahi is very insightful, he listens to everything every patient said, and in the course of the therapy, addressed the issues in his way. I did not agree on many things political, including added billing for any absense regardless of reason, overall his motivation was always for the betterment of his patients. Overall I do not think you will ever find a better professional in the field of phsychodynamics. He is often very serious in demeanor but then when he does smile, he lights up everyone in the room.
Richmond Hospital has a CORE program where Dr Dahi has 2 sessions for 12 weeks with a Psychodynamic group. He listens a long time, then speaks very few words usually about a core issue from your infant years. Anything "clients" share in the group can be shared with the rest of the CORE professionals, who then make judgements on your which appear on your report that is sent to your GP when you leave the group. If a group member is venting at another, he makes no interventions which I think was harmful. Eg. I saw a client reduce another to tears and Dr Dahi did nothing but observe. The loudest disturber will get the attention, so if you feel unsafe sharing something in the group, likely nothing will be done for you to feel safer. I was interviewed by him to join another of his groups and he told me that I would not get better *** unless I had expensive psychoanalysis at least 3x/wk. He also told my CORE friend that if he didn't get psychoanalysis, he'd end up dead in a few years. ***
