I was told by two podiatrists that I would need surgery for Plantar Fasciitis (sp?). Dr. Downey resolved the problem and I was back to running in 3 days. Dr. Downey gives you his full attention and welcomes any questions. Although my problem is not as big as some others he made me feel as though I was just as important

Dr. Downey is THE best podiatrist in Philadelphia! Everything everyone has said is correct. He really knows his stuff and is kind and patient with you. If you are a new patient, it usually takes a while to get your first appointment, however. But the wait is worth it.

World Class Physician and Surgeon! I went to Dr. Michael Downey in Philadelphia on the recommendation of my medical doctor and my school athletic trainer. I had an athletic career threatening tear and dislocation of my peroneal tendons. I was told that I would have to give up collegiate basketball forever by two team physicians. Dr. Downey repaired the tendon damage and I am able to play basketball again. In fact, I only missed part of one season. He's busy in the office, and his waiting room is full, but he spends alot of time with you and makes sure you understand what to do to get better. He also communicated well with my college coach and trainers during my rehab. I don't think this guy sleeps - he's always working to make his patients better. I highly recommend him and agree with everything others have said on this site.

I had heard about Dr. Downey, but i could hardly believe the kind, considerate and pleasant experience that i had. he is extremely knowledgable and understanding. He knows his stuff. This Dr. is top notch in my book. I would recommend h im to anyone. HE IS THE BEST

I must chime in on Dr. Downey as well. I now consider him to be my doctor and a friend. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and Dr. D surgically fixed both of my feet. No surgeon I have ever met has the combination of compassion and skill that Dr. Downey has! He works at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center which is part of the Univesity of Pennsylvania's Health System. I felt the care I was provided there was top-notch as well. I've been to many doctors over the years, but Dr. Downey is truly a great physician and surgeon!

Dr. Downey is the best! I had a rare tumor that developed on my nerve. I've found Dr. Downey after 3 years going from a doctor to a doctor to another doctor. By that time I already had one unsuccessful surgery (the tumor was not removed). I was in pain and on very strong painkillers that didn't work for me for 3 years. I didn't sleep for 3 years. I couldn't wear any shoes, or even socks for 3 years. Nobody was able to find out what was wrong with me. Dr. Downey told me the first time he took a look at my MRI pictures what do I have, and that the only option is a surgery. I was so lucky Dr. Downey operated me! The surgery was a success. I started to live again.

I had a severe bunion and was sent to Dr. Michael Downey by my local, home-town podiatrist. I drove over 3 hours to see him and then again for the surgery and follow-up. Dr. Downey went out of his way to provide my post-surgical care and even waited for me several times when I was caught in traffic and late to his office. He never hurries you in the office and spent alot of time with me to answer my questions before the surgery. My bunion is now gone, and I can walk and wear shoes that I have had to avoid for many years. What the others have said about Dr. Downey on this site is true and I agree with their comments - I give him my highest rating and I do not usually like doctors or surgeons.

Dr. Downey did a Charcot reconstruction on my foot and saved my life! Every doctor I had been too wanted to amputate my leg. Dr. Downey said "Let's try and save it!" AND HE DID IT!! I can walk now with orthopedic shoes and have no problems. These web sites should help people find great doctors like Dr. D!

Dr. Downey is one of the leading foot and ankle surgeons in the USA. I was fortunate to see him for a second opinion regarding my bunion deformity. He was thoughtful and caring in his assessment of my condition. So much so, that I had him do my surgery. Am I ever glad I did! I now walk, run, and play sports without pain! This guy is the best and I highly recommend him! You will not be disappointed.
