:) Click to report rating    10/15/09 5 5 5 I am a 44 year old male who has suffered with PTSD,panic attacks and mild agoraphobia since childhood.I have seen psychiatrist's for 23 years. I have been a patient of Dr. Cocores for 1 1/2 years and he is by far the most knowledgeable doctor I have been to. He always takes time for me and a few times gives me more than my allotted time. I trust his judgment on medications completely and value his opinions. I know everyone has rights to their opinions but I have no idea where these negative comments are coming from.I am originally from way up in the mountains of the Carolinas where trust of people, especially doctors has to be earned (and doesn't come easily)and I can say I trust Dr Cocores completely because of the care and respect he has extended to me.If you are looking for a great physician then give Dr. Cocores a try.P.S. I was not asked by anyone to write a good review these are my opinions and mine only. Have a great day! Greg

:) Click to report rating    10/14/09 5 5 5 Dr. Cocores is an excellent psychiatrist and physician. I saw him after my husband's sudden death and he helped me a great deal. He was very compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful. His staff is courteous, it is very easy to get an appointment quickly. I have even been able to get an appointment the same day. The Director of the facility is a real sweetheart as well. I would still be seeing Dr. Cocores if I had not moved out of Florida. I found him to be a very caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable doctor.

:( Click to report rating    4/30/09 3 2 1 You'll notice a high # of ratings from July 07. Cocores was furious when he read the negative comments on this page and asked his patients to write in good comment. One of those comments was from my brother, who was a patient of Cocores' for more than five years and WHO IS NOW DEAD. He died 3-18-2009, five days after his last visit with Cocores. He came to Cocores in distress and obviously suicidal, and Cocores DUMPED him, without referral or back up, despite the fact he was on anti-psych meds and methadone. He also dumped ME just for being his sister, and left me to deal with methadone withdrawal on my own - which can be very serious and often deadly - I've been in and out of the emergency room because of it. Rude, arrogant, close-minded. He may think he is knowledgable but doesn't have the good sense to admit when he doesn't know what he is doing.

Always on top of the latest research, and usually a part of it, he's really an excellent advisor and doctor. Highly recommended. -CDR

:) Click to report rating    1/13/09 5 5 5 Dr. C has helped me in so many ways. I used to have severe panic attacks and with the help of Dr. C I no longer have these attacks, and I dont take the meds everyday, just as needed. So many people have this fear of addictions but if you listen to Dr. C he will tell you how to take the meds so they work the right way and help you! I highly reccomend him!

:) Click to report rating    1/13/08 5 5 5 Dr.Cocores has helped save my life. I left the psychiatrist who was treating me after ten years. It became clear to both my family and friends that I was being poisoned by the plethora of drugs he had taken me on and off of for nine years. I called Dr.Cocores's office and had an appointment in less than 24 hours. It has been six days since my first visit to Dr.Concores and I can already feel a miraculous difference in how I feel. This doctor has saved my life!

:) Click to report rating    7/29/07 5 5 5 Dr. Cocores is highly intelligent and very knowledgeable about the most appropriate psychiatric medications. He is supportive to patients dealing with addiction and alcoholism and also to the patient's family. He and his wonderful staff have gone out of their way more than once to help my family during very difficult and sad circumstances. He is also very understanding in dealing with patients who have been through very traumatic events and the aftermath to the patient. Highly recommended.

He always takes the time to explain to me about any medications I am taking and any concerns I may have. Whenever I have any personal concerns, he is always willing to take phone calls from me, even after business hours. I would highly recommend Dr. Cocores.

:) Click to report rating    7/13/07 5 5 5 Dr. Cocores is the first doctor who actually cared about what I was feeling, who listened to what had happened to me and understood the depth of trauma that I had experienced. He not only helped me with medication, Dr. Cocores played a major role helping me to become a survivor of post traumatice syndrome. Dr. Cocores was prompt in returning phone calls, even on weekends. He would fit me in to his schedule if I needed to be seen in an emergency. I was always able to rely on his expertise not only as an MD but also as a therapist, an expert in treating PTSD. I can say with confidence that I have unconditional trust and confidence in Dr. Cocores. I have recommended this man to other family members and to friends with no hesitiation. He is wonderful with medications and a true healer.

:) Click to report rating    7/13/07 5 5 5 By some miracle I found Dr. Cocores for my family after a 8 year relationship with a different doctor. My daughter, myself, and my husband were heading down the wrong path of either being over medicated, under medicated or not medicated. Dr. Cocores's intuition, medical knowledge, and experience has turned my daughter's life around into normal socialability. He has brought my husband back to a mental even keel and enabled me to lead a life of with BiPolar disorder without being overmedicated. Without question or hesitation he is the finest psychiatrist I have seen in the last 12 years and I have and will con tinue to recommend him to those who need his help. He has a special gift in this field and works especialy well with ADHD children in the way he relates to them. The doctor never keeps me waiting and takes my time serious (espcially because I am on lunch hour). The treatments that Dr. Cocores has established for myself, in the last year, has been just short of a miracle.

:) Click to report rating    7/13/07 5 5 5 I don’t know where these few negative responses are coming from; they certainly don’t fit my personal experience over three years of treatment or those of the many people I have referred. It’s useful to notice what words the majority of his patients do use, you hear words like “miracle” and speak of having been given their life back. These are not mere platitudes; it’s his business and his gift. Personally, I came to him after 20 years of ineffectual treatment for serious mental illness and in out of mental hospitals and suicide attempts. After a relatively short period of his careful guidance and treatment I was pursuing my Phd, healthy, stable, and was actually experiencing life for the first time truly free of major depression. Dr. Cocores is a truly rare find in a Psychiatrist. Moreover, he has consistently been prompt, professional, and almost always available on short notice for emergencies.

:) Click to report rating    7/12/07 5 5 5 Dr. C. not only has the knowledge of what meds are out there but the interaction with food, food aditives. If a generic has the same effect as name brand. NOBODY has this kind of knowledge. He is not going to snow you he shoots straight and thats rare for a doctor.

:) Click to report rating    7/12/07 5 5 5 Just reloating to south Florida, I was highly recommended to South Coast of which I was incredibly impressed with the quality of care I recieved. Not only was Dr.Cocores compassionate to my medical needs but I found the entire staff to be extremley helpful. Even when I needed medical advice at 9 pm I gave the South Coast office a call and was incredibly impressed to find a professional and experienced doctor to provide me with the care I needed.

:) Click to report rating    7/11/07 5 5 5 He is excellent. Always prepared, really knows the interaction of the meds we discuss, really cares about what goes on in my life outside our immediate conversation. Very calming office, available in emergencies and always takes care of me. Highly recommended.

:) Click to report rating    7/11/07 5 5 5 Dr. Cocores has changed my life for the better. I was incredibly depressed about my weight and he paid attention not only to how I felt, but how I ate, how I took care of myself. He gave me a new lease on life.

:( Click to report rating    3/15/07 1 1 Before my first consultation, I called the Suncoast office to inquire about my insurance. A Dr. Bollinger replied that my insurance was acceptable. After I had my 3 minute visit, I received a $270 bill and was told that they will file the claim on my behalf, but that the fees are my responsibility(never filed). This office is focused on receipt of payment and not care of patient. In addition to their false advertising to gain patients, Dr. Cocores will not return phone calls. The Woman whom answers phone calls acts in an upmost unprofessional manner. However, she is not to blame for she is a mere agent of her principal(Dr. Cocores), who has her answering phone calls with specific instructions. I have been courteous for 6 months, but now have a duty to disclaim. I pay $90 for ten minutes of office time and Dr. Coccores signs my perscription. I understand the hard work in med school, as I am a professional also, and so the fee I can accept.BUT $450/HR. I EXPECT A SIMPLE CALL BACK.

:( Click to report rating    4/17/06 1 1 This Doctor is the worst I have ever seen in my life. For my first visit, he denied having an appointment with me and told me he could spend two minutes with me! He took me off meds I had been on for years, put me on diuretics, and put me on new meds. I became extremely ill. He refused to talk to me on the telephone. I ended up going back to my old psychiatrist who could not believe he had done what he did. To top it off, I found out he charged my insurance company $250.00 for our four minute session! I hope this stops someone from making the biggest mistake of his/her life, and that is to see this man. He also claims that he is an expert on alcoholism and drug abuse. He has written books about it (he was quick to tell me that). No one is an expert on drug abuse or alcoholism unless they have been addicted themselves. He claims he has never been addicted to either. What a con.

:( Click to report rating    2/7/06 2 1 This doctor was horrible. He was my childs psychiatrist and put her on meds then when she had a reaction and we called him, he told us to continue with them. She ended up extremely ill and we needed to go to the hospital. Then when we called him he said his schedule was too busy to see her.
