Dr. Cheatum seems to be very knowledgable and very thourough. His staff is not very friendly, but neither was i at 430a.m. People shouldnt complain about him scribing while he is talking to you. What is the best way to put info in your notes? When it is fresh on your mind! His bedside manner is not the best but that doesnt change the fact that he knows what he is doing. When they make your new patient appt they are very up front with the info that appts are very early(start at 330 am ) and that you may be there 4 to 5 hours. If that is not ok ,go to someone else.He has a very dry sense of humor but you have to have a sense of humor to understand him. I was very impressed but he is not for everyone.

Dr. Cheatum is a good doctor but has no respect for patients time. I have no problem with a Dr taking time with patients, but needs to book accordingly. A minimum two hour wait is normal in this office. I found a new Dr who is just as good if not better and much more efficient. Dr. Cheatum thinks he is doing his patients a favor, I think not.

I have seen Dr. Cheatum over ten years and he is the most thorough, knowledgeable rheumatologist I have ever seen. He is usually late in seeing you but takes time to analyze your personal situation and treatment. He us not a chatty doctor but is pleasant. His nurses are the WORST. I have been trying to get a prescription faxed to pharmacy for almost three weeks and it still has not happened.

Have seem him for about a year. First appointment was 5 hours, but very little wait time, ran several tests and 18 xrays. He can be short with answers. Very good at what he does. Early appointments are EARLY 4:30 am. Had seen others in past with no relief, now much improved

Dr Cheatum is well worth the wait. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be able to walk or work or live a normal life. I can't say enough good things about him.

We had to wait four hours every time we saw him. Literally, if our appointment was for 7 AM we'd sit in the waiting room until 10:30 and at 11 he'd finally walk in the exam room. He wouldn't discuss alternative treatments when our insurance didn't cover a medicaiton he recommended. Terrible bedside manner.

Dr. is very knowledgeable, but can be abrupt. I don't necessarily have a problem with that but had a bad visit last time. He did not seem to care about my pain and fatigue- said that was part of arthritis. I get that, but I got the feeling he though I was wasting his time when I tried to explain my degree of suffering. He knows his stuff, but it may not be worth it depending on how you views you.

Dr. C ... I thought he was very helpful. I am only twenty, but have been to about 5 different Rheumatoid specialist. He, by far, has been the best. I am studying to go into the medical field and actually had a great time talking with Dr. C about the process and everything to that extent. Also, his knowledge is amazing ... He has been doing his job well for a long time now. Get ready for his blunt personality though.

Dr. Cheatum may seem blunt to some, but he is a Dr. and he should be blunt. He is very good at diagnostics, and he validated me by diagnosing me and putting me on treatment. He didn't make me feel guilty for being in pain, or crazy like the rest. In fact, he was sympathetic to my pain, and it blew me away. What a sweet man! Most doctors are terrible in my opinion and don't get the job done. I was in the healthcare industry and I have seen what goes on behind the scenes usually, and it's disgusting. He is above all that, and he solved a case that has been baffling my family(grandmother had this) and other doctors for Years. I have been to others in this field and they didn't know anything. If he has a long wait, it's because he is That good. Also, everyone can misdiagnose occasionally, and doctors are human too. He is right a lot more though! He is respected for a reason. If you want somebody to kiss your butt and tell you lies that everything is ok, then don't see him.

This doctor is very cold to me as well. His Nurse staff Shannon, and Maria are VERY RUDE people. They have no patient communication skills whatsoever. I am switching Doctors immediately. I have talked to Angela who is the Office Manager and she has had several complaints on the staff as well as Dr. Cheatum. Her number is 214-345-5756 and the CEO of the Hospital is 214-345-5799 and her name is Christy Hall. I was treated better sometimes with Medicaid Doctors when I was younger. They treat me as if nothing is wrong with me due to my age but they don't know what I have been through. Even his X-Ray tech said that they were rude and that she has heard too many complaints on his staff. It is especially hard to deal with them when its time to refill prescriptions. They hang up on you when you call and ask them what is taking so long. One time I called and just because no one would call me back I pressed the doctor line so they would pick up only for her to hang up on me when I said my name.

Very impressed with his approach and knowledge. Unlike some of what I have read here, I found him very pleasant. My PCP, 2 Ophthalmologists and the lab that did my bone and joint scan all took the time to tell me I was lucky I had him as my Rheumatologist...that he is one of the best.

He IS brilliant but I found him to be very cold and thoughtless. Average wait time is around 3 - 4 hours. His staff is rude and unhelpful. His approach is very clinical and he does not explain things well. When I asked him about diet or exercise he told me to look on the internet. I've found that people either love him or hate him. I didn't find him helpful or compassionate.

I waited atleast 3 hours each visit (4 1/2 the first appointment which is the average wait time). I'm sure he's a great doctor for certain people but he misdiagnosed me. He's very unfriendly (I know he's a doctor, not a friend, but it's to the point where it's a little uncomfortable)and if you ask him any questions he gives one word answers and makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions. He assumed I had arthritis from the very beginning and never even explored other options. Well I don't have arthritis. I switched doctors and found out I have Fibromyalgia. I know it's very common for Fibromyalgia to be misdiagnosed, it's just frustrating that he didn't really try to figure out what was wrong with me.

Dr. Cheatum is an excellent doctor but his office staff is lacking in PR in the worst way. They are very sharp and unfriendly. It would appear that people go to the doctor to improve in the way they feel but when I come out I feel as bad if not worse than when I went in. But make no mistake that this is not a refleftion on Dr. Cheatum. He is 100 % wonderful. If only the staff was as nice . With one exception Dorothy she is a blessing to his office.

I cannot understand these compliants. This man has given me back my life. As far as the staff they are well organized and the office runs on a dime. Someone always has to complain no matter what. I am there for treatment not a social club. Just maybe if you smile first they will. Thank you Dr Cheatum for my life back.

You need to be able to research your own issues because Dr. Cheatum doesn't give any detail or encourage questions. His staff is the worst staff I have ever encountered in 52 years. They seem angry and rude (this does not pertain to the x-ray and lab staff) even when you are so sick you can barely walk in. In two and a half years of going to this office I saw his staff smile one time – when they put the last patient of the day in an exam room.

While Dr. Cheatum may not appear to have the best bedside manner (he's a bit brusque), he's extremely knowledgable and efficient in treating rheumatic diseases. Would highly recommend!

I find it a little odd that he scribes while he's talking to the patient. He is thorough it seems. The hours are very annoying to get in the first time but that's his choice I guess. I do not however find the staff to be personable. You are like cattle going in and out. When I call, I am talked to abruptly versus caringly.

Dr. Cheatum is extreemly through and records all activity directly into a hand held recorder. He also reports all his findings directly back to my primary Doc. I find his staff to be very helpfull and friendly. Satisfied patient, Ada Quintanilla

I drive an hour one way to see Dr. Cheatum and would drive further if need be. He has helped me get my life back where many many other doctors over many many years failed to make a difference with my health issues. He has been a blessing in my life.

Terrible Dr. he should retire. Generalizes - put me on wrong medicines, misdiagnosed problem as lupus since that's what he deals with. Waited 90 minutes for appt. Unfortunately, he doesnt seem alert, misses what is said in conversing. He needs to retire so no other patients are harmed.

Dr Cheatum is the best at finding the problem and treating it to the fullest and complete. My wife has gone to him since 1990 and he has prevented her from crippling and maybe dying due to RA & Lups. I have gone to him myself for the last 2 years. I should have gone years ago and maybe my hand would not be in as bad shape as they are. He is very busy helping a lot of people and tries to stay on schedule the best he can but also takesthe time needed with the patient. This may not include small talk or other medical problems. Yes, he may not smile to much and you may not get in to see him on time, but I assure you, he is concennedand will not piddle around with treatment, he get to the core of it. He is not trying to win a popularity contest, he is trying to keep you alive and from crippling and from pain. If you want to see a smiley face, just be patient, but a smiling face will not treat your condition. I can understand a low rating from this web site from new patients

This is a terrible Dr. Bad experience all around. I think he is very knowledgeable. Unfortunately his most of his staff is rude and Dr. Cheatum is not helpful in giving you information, Rx, or methods to fight your arthritis. I would strongly recommend seeing a different physician.
