Amazing. Compassionate. Caring. Wonderful. Just some of the words I think of when I think about Dr. Sigesmund. Yes, you have to wait, sometimes it is 3-4 hours, sometimes it is 1-2 hours. It sucks, but Dr. Sigesmund explained our daughters surgery and answered all of our questions clearly. On the day of the surgery Dr. Sigesmund came to get my daughter and talked to us immediately after the surgery to let us know what happened and how things went.

If you cannot give up 1-4 hours for your kid, don't bother going and explain to them in 10-20 years why their vision is gone or why it is horrible. The drops take time and I am glad Dr. Sigesmund puts the time in with her patients.

There is a shortage of pediatric ophthalmologists. Dr. Sigesmund puts in more hours a day then most, and does it with a smile. I wish she could be my daughters full time doctor.

This is the state of our health care. More money needs to be invested so that we can keep talented doctors in Canada.

I doubt Dr. Sigemund will ever read this, but in case she does .... you ROCK! Thank you for everything and please keep doing what you do.

When I think of Dr. S's office, I imagine it must be a lot like one of the outer rings of h-e-l-l. That said... Dr. Sigesmund is FANTASTIC. My family and I have been visiting her for 8 years and I trust her implicitly with my daughter's vision. I applaud her (and team) for working under such conditions. You think it's tough sitting there for an hour or two?! Imagine if that's where YOU worked! I hope that everyone who took the time to come here so they could complain, also takes the time to vote. Because apparently, Canadians have been voting for a government whose mandate is to dismantle our health care system. And THAT, my friends... is why you have to travel SO far, and wait SO long, in conditions not unlike those in the third world. VOTE!

Waited FOUR hours with a crying baby (eye drops gave him a fever!), it was 28 degrees in the office and I didn't find Dr. Sigesmund especially friendly. Yes, she knows her stuff but to overbook herself daily, makes absolutely no sense. Does SHE not get stressed out about dealing with angry patients and irritable children ALL THE TIME?! I get it, there's a shortage of specialists like her, but really, be considerate of peoples' valuable time already.

Dr. Sigesmund is incredible! I challenge anyone to say their child's vision isn't worth the long waits. You are asked to rate the doctor...not the waiting room - and to that I say she is the best at what she does. If people didn't miss appointments, cancel at the last minute or need a little more reassurance from an abundantly caring and brilliant physician, THEN there would be no waiting. My daughter is worth the waiting...she began reading within 3 months of getting corrective lenses...at the age of two and a half...and we owe it all to Dayle!

Yes there is a long wait. I travelled 5 hours 3 times, then spend 3-5 hours in the waiting room. And I would do it again in a second. She took my 1 1/2 year old into surgery personally. The level of care you get when you are with her is bar none. You want the best, then wait for it and STOP compaining! I've waited longer and travelled farther than all the negative comments I've read, and I had a 1 1/2 yr old! You do what you have to for your children. My son got the best which is what he deserves. She corrected his strabism with surgery, freeing my son of headaches, poor depth perception and being teased. Now that was worth waiting for.

Appointments are booked in 15 minute intervals but each appointment takes approx 30 mins. No wonder patients wait hours by the end of the day. The Doctor is very good but the office needs to schedule more time for each appointment. We consistently wait over 2 hours which is ridiculous.

I'm sorry - but the way they run the office is like the 1970's. They book EVERYONE for 10:30 in the morning, and you hope that you will be done by the end of the day. We have been taking my son there for a year now, and in 7 appointments, we have never once been finished in less than 4 hours - most of the time, you see the Assistant after waiting 1 hour. Then you see the Doctor after another hour, she applies drops - then you see the Doctor again after 2 hours (if it's busy, multiply each of these numbers by 2.) She is very competent, but the wait is ridiculous! And I don't know why they have computers - but they don't even turn them on. When they book, they open up their hard copy book and write between lines. Again, good Doctor, horrible staff - you can make excuses for this poor service any way you want - it's still the same results, 45 people in a waiting room built for 15. And an entire day off of work for a combined total of 15 minute of consultation.

I can't help but comment on what I have read. It seems everyones complaints are about long wait times. There are so few pediatric opthamologists that they are all over booked, we travel to see her for 2 hours. As for taking in other patients first, yes she will do that if a child is misbehaving not because she thinks they are more important but we all know a kid who is having tantrums constantly is frustrating for everyone and can drive you nuts. I agree she is understaffed, more people at front desk would be great, however they are not just receptionists, they are booking surgeries right then and there and calling hospitals to cnfirm available dates. Their workload is pretty high. My son has been going to her since he was a baby, and is now booked for surgery, Dr. Sigesmund is straight and to the point which can come off as rude but this woman knows what is talking about. I completely trust her knowledge and have full confidence in her office and staff.

I read all the negative review and decided to write too. I received a call from Dr.Sigesmund office 2 weeks after my optometrist sent her the referral. My first visit to the doctor with my 5 years old child took about 30 minutes with the waiting time.Then I've been told that second visit will take 3 to 4 hours,because of the waiting time. I believe, that they telling this to every patient. So if you don't want to wait so long, visit another doctor!There are plenty of them! But if you want Dr.Sigesmund, you will wait quietly, because you want the best doctor for your child. 2 weeks after, the Doctor already did the surgery to my son. I can't express my appreciation to Dr.Sigesmund. She is the best Doctor, and it is definitely worth to wait without any complains. Like I said before, there are plenty other doctors, so don't put bad review, just go to another doctor. Thank you Dr. Sigesmund! For the first time in the last 2.5 years, my son looked at me right with his both eyes!

HORRIBLE SERVICE RUDE STAFF WAITED THREE MONTHS TO GET A CALL fOR AN APPOINTMENT...I DON't CARE HOW GOOD THIS DR. IS HER RUDE STAFF SET THE PRECENDENT. I WOULD NEVER TRUST MY 2 year with this DR.
