Ratings for Dr. M. Varelas
4.8
Can't seem to accurately diagnose spinal nerve disorders or even fibromyalgia. One likely reason is that most doctors will not discuss the many negative effects from prescription medication for fear of implicating another doctor. I'm guessing that 9 out of 10 neurological problems are from drugs. If you think prescribed meds are causing your issues then pin him down and don't let him deflect your concerns
Very pleased with my appt with him. Courteous, knowledgeable and interested.

Incredibly helpful. Same with staff. Extremely thorough. Finally got the answers regarding my neck/shoulder I been lookin for, for 7 yrs! Would recommend to anyone. Thank you very much Dr. Varelas!! -J Nicholl
I saw Dr. Vareles yesterday for symptoms in my hands. Him and his assistant/tech were AMAZING! I will start by saying Dr. Varelas was extremely thorough and took time to understand the concerns regarding my hands, even though it did not match carpal tunnel symptoms which he diagnoses with the nerve conducting machine. He really listened to me and actually cared. His assistant was absolutely lovely and made me feel comfortable during the nerve test. Absolutely recommend them both.
Dr. Veralas is a star. He is always on time, is knowlegable and concerned. Seeing him through the pandemic, the staff and Doctors at Richmond General are true heros. Thank you so much for the caring for all of us in these stressful times!
He is extremely kind, caring and knowledgeable. Amazing doctor, would highly recommend him.
He cut me off when trying to explain my symptoms. He ignored his meter that did not respond when placed into my arm (sputtered), and then told me if anyone says I have never damage to 'come to see him.' Just a little over confident (with a broken machine, or from inconsistent readings...either not good. Since, I have been waiting four months for a follow up appt to ask questions regarding other doctors' (contrary) diagnosis's. And still waiting. I do not recommend this specialist.
Dr. Varelas has been seeing my Dad for his Parkinson's disease for a number of years. Dr. Varelas has always been very kind, patient and thorough. He takes the time to listen to our concerns and provides helpful suggestions and options. He is patient centered. One of the best doctors we have encountered. Thank you.
I went to see Dr. Varelas yesterday and I must say he was one of the best doctors I have seen in my life (I am 52 years old)! He listens, is very thorough, explains what he thinks and is very knowledgeable! His assistant is fantastic as well!
