I have been with DrKara for the last 25 years now. In the bigning she was very attentive and caring to me and my late Husband. She brought patient and great listening skills and diagnosis. The front desk was amazing helpful and didn’t have to wait long. I've refined that her staff is VERY rude, DrKara medical knowledge has lacked from the first time I was in her office. Her appointments are NEVER on time waiting for 4 hours one time, the coffee was ok but it got old after the 8 the cup. I am not alone there are so many people dealing with the same thing. I'm looking for another Dr. Now because going to Dr.Kara is more painful than what I am physically going thru. I feel worse after going to her office. After my exam she doesn't tell me anything I don't already know.DrKara lacks today’s medial knowledge of treating humans, I think she is better severed treating Pets. All she cares about is money from OHIP. This attitude is unacceptable and should not be acceptable by any medical field

I understand what everyone is saying about the wait times and the disposition of some of the staff members. But that has no reflection on the quality of service Dr.Kara has always provided me. I have been seeing Dr.Kara since I was a young teenager, I am now in my late twenties. Through this time I have had to deal with some very serious medical conditions that Dr.Kara has always helped me with. I have been to other walk in clinics and even though of getting a new family doctor because of the wait times but after testing the waters and meeting with some other potential dr's I had researched none of them had the gentle comforting demeanor and knowledge that Dr.Kara had. She is a truly compassionate person and has helped me through some very difficult times. The wait times and distance I now travel to get there (because I have moved) is well worth it and I would suggest her to friends and family!

Staff is a reflection of how they are treated by their boss, period. Being punctual is a sign of respect for patients as they do their doctor, Dr. Shariff is not punctual at all, she is very helpful. Her staff is overworked and treated poorly by the patients. I have been there 20 plus years, and the wait time can be 4 hours with a booked appointment, many times 2 to 3 hours. If you have time she is good, if not move on.

I have been with Dr. Kara-Shariff for 5 years now. At first I thought she was great because she was patient and very nice. I thought I was there on a busy day and it was not normal. After being with her for a couple years, I've learned that her staff is VERY rude. Her appointments are NEVER on time (usually a two hour wait!). I thought I was the only one dealing with this until I found this website. I'm looking for another Dr. now because I think going to the doctor should be a good thing and I always feel horrible after going her office. Every time I got there, she doesn't tell me anything I don't know. She doesn't give me extra information. I'm sure she knows her stuff, but hasn't taken the time with me. I find that I need to ask her questions to get clarification. I'm not encouraged by her actions to get my yearly physical and that doesn't sit right with me. Thank you everyone for all your reviews, I feel so much better that I'm not alone in my experiences.

The Markham Mews Clinic experience is the worst I have ever encountered. The staff at the front desk are extremely rude and disrespectful to patients who have often been waiting for over 2 hours. I was treated terribly for being a walk in. I have lived in the community for many years and pay taxes. Canadian doctors seem to forget that medical care is not free for Canadians. We are paying their salaries. This attitude is unacceptable. When I finally got in, I told Doctor Kara that I had been waiting for over 2 hours. She shouted at me and said she'd maybe come back once I stopped complaining. This from a medical professional????? I don't care that she has had a bad day or has so many patients to see. She was very patronizing and not the least bit compassionate. It is her choice to overbook patients.I will never return to this clinic. Sadly in this country, this type of poor service continues as we don't have as many options as other nations with superiour medical care.

I have been a patient for 13+ years and recommend Dr Kara to my friends (although I've been told she isn't taking new patients). Wait time can sometimes be a real pain (especially if you're forgotten...which has happened) and some of the nurses are not overly friendly (although Dr Kara's nurses are) - but she has been patient, kind, understanding, given me the time to explain illnesses (even the not so serious) and been concerned enough to monitor an illness that I never thought existed...and turned out to me an early cancer diagnosis. However, because of her attentivness, recommendation to an amazing surgeon (on more than one occasion) I'm back to normal (as much normal as anyone I guess). Most Dr's offices have line ups, long wait times and some rude staff. Deal with it...at least we have free health care, and aren't forced to take a number and come back hours later.

I have been a patient since 1993. And yes, Dr. Kara can be a good Doctor but the wait time at the clinic is horrible, her staff is evil (forgetting a patient is normal in their world) and to top it all off she is RUDE. She has no patience and after waiting 3 hours- you get 3 minutes to express your medical issues before she throws a prescription at you and runs away to the next appointment. Good Doctor or not, I am essentially paying for her services and I would like my money to be well spent with an overall decent experience. Shouldn't be too much to ask for. I am currently looking for a new family doctor.

Have been a patient for 2 years now. Always a 1-2 hour wait time, even with an appointment. E.g., booked an appointment for 4PM today. I got their at 3:30PM. A girl walks in at 3:50PM and says she has a 4PM appointment, also with Dr. Kara Shariff! Then they let her in before me! I let that go. But then 2 more people came in and still got to see Dr. Kara Shariff before me! This is just unreasonable and unfair. When I finally asked what was happening at 5PM, they got pissed off and said "you will be next." Another guy sitting next to me had the same situation. He was there since 3PM, and they forgot about him until he asked what was happening. They clearly overbook patients, and the staff has no courtesy. The few times I have been seen by Kara Shariff, she has been helpful, but with an attitude that makes me feel like she is in a rush to get to the next patient.

I was a patient for over 20 years.I went in April/10 with what I thought was a bladder infection. Dr. Kara did send me for a ultra sound. Two days after the test Dr. Kara called me into her office with bad news.I was on my own and she proceeded to tell me that I had stomach and liver cancer.I asked her if I was dying and she said yes. My husband then came in and I repeated to him that I was dying and had 6 months to a year, which Dr. Kara agreed with. This was based on the preliminary ultra sound report. She told me I would need a kat-scan and biopsies. When we got the results from the kat-scan it detirmined that I did not have the cancers that I was told I did and that I would need to see a Gynaecologist. The only good thing that Dr. Kara did for me during this time was to send me to Dr. Lackman. Dr. Kara must have felt very guilty for what she did as when I would not respond to her calls she sent me flowers!!! Guilt, Guilt, Guilt.I am doing great and my 3 month check up was clean.

Dr. Kara-Shariff has been my family doctor for the past 5 year. I find her to be very helpful, kind, and caring. She always takes her time with me, takes time to explain details, and never rushes. She has even taken percautionary measures and sent me to specialists just to be sure that I am okay - thankfully I have never been diagnosed with anything. Though often the wait may be long, she is worth the wait.
