I visited Dr. Borenstein on 3 occasions and decided to discontinue his "endocrinology" support. He comes up on Functional Medicine searches but he does not practice this approach. Dr. Borenstein sets eyes on your test results for the first time when you are sitting in front of him. He does not take insurance, only private pay. Most doctors who take private pay do so because they want to spend their time researching their patients, and not on the phone with insurance carriers. Not so with Dr. Borenstein. He does not appear to listen to your goals or capable of putting the picture together holistically. The last straw for me was when he recommended 4 supplements based on my tests and then said, "Because I like you, I am going to give you 2 supplements for free." Then he proceeded to mark up the other two supplements about 300%. Online the same exact supplements cost about $12 a bottle and he charged me $70 for them! He lost credibility at that point.

After over a year of not receiving optimal treatment I was ready to get better and came in to see Dr. Borenstein. He asked a series of questions while reviewing my papers. He was very confident that he could help. He switched my medicine to nature-throid and gave me some adrenal support supplements and an order for bloodwork. I left feeling cautious but hopeful. My husband and I couldn't believe the difference! Within two weeks I was making my way back emotionally and physically to my old great self! It felt so good that I was careful to "wait and see". It's been 5 months and I still feel great! I have my life back. I recently had a second type of thyroid added to my treatment and when I emailed Dr. Borenstein after a month of taking it with concerns because I wasn't feeling well not only did he respond right away via e-mail but also called me personally, on a Saturday to check in. I was really impressed with that type of attention to patient.

I was diagnosed with hashimotos disease 3 1/2 years prior to finding Dr. Borenstein. I was under the care of an endocronologist who would only treat by labs numbers, not by symptoms. I was suffering on a daily basis with symptoms such as: exhaustion, brain fog, weight gain, chronic pain, numbness, tingling, hair loss, irregular cycles... The list just goes on. The endo denied that my symptoms were thyroid related. I was beginning to lose hope of ever feeling well. I had my first appointment with Dr. Borenstein in May of 2013. It was a life-changing visit. The doctor took his time and listened to my symptoms and feelings. He was very thorough. Dr. B is a wonderful doctor. He thinks outside of the box and is very knowledgeable about this complicated disease. He has made me feel like the old me. I feel much healthier since seeing him. My quality of live has greatly improved. I am so thankful to have found such an excellent doctor.

My mother and I traveled from another country to see this doctor to help treat my thyroid disease, and paid an enormous amount in cash for his visit and supplements. I was so disappointed. He spent very little time with me, did not go over all the results of my lab tests, and prescribed me the same treatment he offers to everyone else. When I wasn't getting better, in fact felt worse, and relayed this to him over our subsequent phone consultation, he got angry and impatient and simply increased the dosage of the medicine I was on. When it was time for our third phone consultation, it was cancelled because his nurse lost my file. It has never been found since. Do not waste your time with this doctor. He is unprofessional and uncaring, and simply not worth the money he charges.

I am ambivalent about this MD. I have hashimotos and was not improving on Levothyroxine. He was impatient, borderline rude, kept interrupting me and seemed annoyed when I asked a question. He said, I was getting to that. He barely looked at my labs and then gave me naturethroid and adrenal supplements and then got out of his chair and escorted me to the door. Second time, when I came back in with all my blood work with a lot of markers out of normal range, he didn't even discuss these with me. Also when I asked him why blood work showed inflammation, he said it's related to diet but gave no advice about adjusting diet. When I asked he said it would take him too long to explain and I should just go on the internet. Wha??? He seems only willing to spend 10 minutes each time. I always have questions that don't get answered. He doesn't answer emails either. I feel that he could address more issues in an individual appt instead of stretching it out. He could be more helpful in general .

I took my mother to see him for her thyroid nodules problem. I wanted to help her get a better solution so I found him online and wanted to try him despite the high rate he charges. The whole thing about how he's very patient to understand his patients on his website was such a lie. The whole appointment did not even take 10 mins. All he did was look at the lab work and ultrasound scan we brought and decided to prescribe her a thyroid hormone. He didn't really tried to understand what's causing her problem. He was very rushed and even started giving me other doctors and hospitals to get a second opinion. After that he started getting up and ready to head for the door while we were still sitting down and still wondering what his conclusion was. We will definitely not be going back to him. The moment we walked out of the office I felt like we got scammed $425 for nothing!

For decades following a thyroidectomy, I was on synthetic thyroid. My previous endocrinologist tested TSH only, and based on that steadily reduced my dosage over the course of 5-6 years, even though I had low energy, slow digestion, dry skin, frequent dizziness, and the infamous "brain fog." At the recommendation of a friend who'd had thyroid problems, I looked for a physician willing to prescribe Armor thyroid, and found Dr. Borenstein. At my first visit, he took 45 minutes to ask me about my symptoms, then put me on medication for thyroid, adrenal dysfunction, and iron. It took 6 months to build up to the right dose (apparently too much thyroid too soon can screw up other systems), but I'm feeling like a normal person again, and I could not be happier with Dr. Borenstein's treatment. Also: I read up on desiccated vs. synthetic thyroid before the appointment, and on all 3 of my visits Dr. B. took the time to explain whatever I didn't understand. Highly recommended.

I’m 31 years old and have been recently diagnosed with MS. I was having a difficult time finding a doctor who would put me on an LDN treatment let a long one who even knows about this drug. Thank God I lucked out and found Dr. Borenstein. I was instantly comfortable with his enthusiasm about my treatment and well being. Once on the LDN I started to feel so much better however I still experienced some numbness on the right side of my body. On my second visit we spoke about my numbness and he tested me for several food allergies because according to him food allergies tend to aggravate MS patients and cause “flare ups”/numbness. I found out I’m allergic to several foods some of which I use to eat on a daily basis such as almonds and green peas. So I stopped eating those foods, continuing my LDN treatment and I feel great as if I don’t even have MS. Dr. Borenstein has saved me and I will be forever be thankful.

Dr. Borenstein was very helpful with my hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, and hormone imbalance. After seeing a number of doctors previously and still having symptoms I found Dr. Borenstein. His approach was progressive and effective. He did a comprehensive evaluation, answered my questions, and recommended supplements and medication. There was no pressure to purchase supplements from him and he was fine with me buying them elsewhere. I feel so much better and am very grateful.
