My review is going the echo much of what the 2 star reviewer from June 18, 2014 has already said. I should have known better when the initial consult fee with a *chiropractor* was $495! Once you do your *brief* phone consult with Dr Hagmeyer, you are made to feel you must act quickly to schedule your first visit because they have reserved a spot for you within 'the next 10 days.' During your appointment, the 'doctor' does not examine you or tell you much of what he thinks is going on with your health, but you are encouraged to quickly sign up for *the program.,* which amounts to $5200!! This includes lab work plus his office visits/consults going forward for what he suggests is a year long treatment program. Mind you, I did not have any previously diagnosed diseases but a lump of vague symptoms associated with low vitamin and hormone levels that were not being addressed holistically by other doctors. In addition to this, there was other lab work that I had to pay at least $2000 up front at the lab - which was NOT made clear - during the appointment. Fortunately, my insurance reimbursed a good portion. Once the labs were completed he pegged me with some stuff that made sense and some that did not (i.e. blood sugar issues - non of which I have ever had). Proceeded to prescribe a extremely strict Paleo diet (one that I generally already followed) along with further restrictions which the food sensitivity blood panel dictated - it was miserable and he had me on this going on a year without any indication of doing reintroductions. A strict elimination diet should only be done for a period of 6-8 weeks with a strict reintroduction period. He did not want to do this, he said I needed to rerun the panel to determine if I could reintroduce the restricted foods. At over $800 to retest, I declined. Meanwhile, I am on a rotating supplement regimen which amounts to >$350/10 weeks. It honestly seemed like he was filling a quota every time I went for a consult I left with $350 worth of supplements.
My main beefs: Never received a diagnosis, never was given an endpoint in treatment or how to go forward on a less restrictive diet and less supplements. I was told the program - for me - was going to be a year in length but I was about a month away from the year mark with no endpoint in site before I quit.
If you do some internet research you will find the Apex Energetics - one of the supplement brands he sells - offers seminars in Functional Medicine Education. I do not know this for a fact, but I wonder if this is how received his 'training.'
You can save yourself a ton of money by cleaning up your diet and eating whole, un-processed foods (maybe gluten, soy, dairy free for certain people); drinking homemade bone broth, eating fermented foods and organ meats from grass-fed animals; some supplements (vitamin D; Fish oil; digestive enzymes; B complex)rest; and a daily walk or two in the sunshine.
I am embarrassed I was so gullible.
I gave this guy 2 stars, but feel 1star is more accurate. I was made fun of on first meeting with the Dr. for having had a lot of supplements, but yet he had me buying supplements that were Very expensive and quite frankly didn't do a thing for me. I thought going a full year would
really help me and was told that I could bring in the rest of the family for adjustments for free
since I was on the 1 year program. That was not the case he was billing my insurance company!
They notified us about this only because of the outrageous amount he was charging the
insurance company for my other family members who only came there because i was told their
visits would be a no charge. Ha!! I'll tell you what to do; go gluten, dairy, sugar and soy free. Go
on an antifungal/anticandidadiet, take probiotics, EFA/essential fatty acids, take digestive enzymes. There and you got all of that for free!! No 10,000 dollars which is way over the top. When I would ask what exactly is wrong with me I never got a direct answer. He was very robust and happy, but if you crossed his path he could get Very mean!
I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY HE CHARGES $495.00 UPFRONT. HE IS NOT A WIZARD BUT A CHIROPRACTIC DOCTOR. HE DID NOT GO TO MED SCHOOL SO WHY DOES HE THINK HE CAN DIAGNOSE EVERYONE. THIS IS A TOUCHY SUBJECT AND A WRONG DIAGNOSIS IS SCAREY!
My experince with Dr Hagmeyer has been amazing and I have nothing but great things to say about his office. For the last 15 years my health has been terrible. I have been diagnosed with lupus, celiac disease, and hashimotos. I was beyond exhausted,. I was gaining weight and dealing with heart palpitations and my joints felt like they were on fire. A freind of mine recommended Dr Hagmeyer because of the success she had with his care. I am currently about 6 months into my program and I have never felt better in my life!!! I can wake up in the morning without feeling like a cripple. I feel rested and have already lost 40 lbs! I am not sure why any of my other doctors could not get me to this point but I am relieved to finally be feeling better. The testing was certainly worth it to be able to find out what was really wrong with me and start correcting my problems. He is everything people should look for in a doctor and I really don't want to think about where I would be physically and mentally if I had not gone to see him.
I started working with Dr Hagmeyer 6 months ago. I was diagnosed almost 10 years ago with Lupus and Hashimotos. For years I have been to doctors and frustrated with prescriptions and was tired of doctors not listening to me. I was tired of doctors telling me my bloodwork was good. A friend of mine has been seeing Dr Hagmeyer and he has helped her tremendously. I have heard many wonderful things about this doctor and so I decided I had nothing to lose. I have been to holistic naturopathic doctors in the past and never had very good results. My experience with Dr Hagemeyer has been excellent. He has helped me change my diet, he identified many problems with my health that I had suspected and has given me clear direction on getting well. I am thrilled with my results in such a short period of time. I have lost 26 pounds, I am sleeping through the night, My hot flashes are gone, my stomach no longer is cramping and in in pain, my depression is better, my joint pain is about 80% better. I am hoping to only get better with more time. I recommend everybody I know to see Dr Hagemeyer and will continue to do so. He is very passionate about what he does and I can tell he gets enjoyment and satisfaction about what he does. If you suffer with problems like I did go see him. He will help you.
I should have known better than to believe this "doctor" had any real knowledge. All he really does is look up ever-changing information online about every possible disease and then calls himself an "expert." After being a patient for over a year, I still have no idea what my actual diagnosis is. Any time I ask, he avoids answering with an excuse. He had me change my diet completely, and after telling all of the foods I must never eat again, he puts me on supplements containing all of the "bad" foods. After spending around $10,000, having all available testing done, being on constantly changing supplements (that he did not even explain why I need), he can't even answer a single question. Every time I have a question about what my lab work tests mean or what my diagnosis actually is, he gives a COMPLETELY different answer. He is the most inconsistent doctor I have ever been to. If you want to feel worse, be very confused, and lose a lot of money, then maybe this is the Dr. for you.
Although I was skeptical of Dr. Hagmeyer's website and his ability to treat me, he has far exceeded my expectations. Over the past 5 years, I have seen 15 doctors(MDs) to assist me in explaining my symptoms of chronic fatigue, brain fog, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations, yet was turned away after yielding continuously normal results. Dr. Hagmeyer, although a chiropractor, was the only individual able to explain the source of my problems. Through the expensive tests that I paid for on my own(I don't have a lot of money), my symptoms were a result of extremely low blood sugar, adrenal fatigue, two autoimmune diseases in my intestines, and a parasite in my stomach. After only a month of treatment, I can't believe I am sitting here excited to write this review. As a 19 year male about to take on an electrical engineering curriculum, play college hockey, and continue to pursue a career as an engineer and fighter pilot, I owe all that I will be able to achieve to Dr Hagmeyer.
I had already been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and gluten sensitivity 3 years ago. Dr. Hagmeyer said I had brain problems. I paid in advance and signed up for 6 months of treatments. After 3 months, he said that Medicare wasn't reimbursing him enough and I had to pay another $100 per visit for him to keep treating me. I was devastated! I walked out in tears and neither he nor his staff called to check up on me. Along with the huge up-front payment, the cost of supplements he required I take was also expensive. I had no change in my condition.
I could be a walking billboard for this doctor. My experience with Dr Hagmeyer and his staff has been amazing and I have nothing but great things to say about this office.I originally sought care with Dr Hagmeyer because over the last 15 years my health has spiraled out of control. I was diagnosed with lupus, celiac disease, and hashimotos thyroid disease all within a 5 year period of time. I was beyond exhausted, my fatigue was crippling. I had terrible bouts of depression combined with weight gain and then weightloss. My heart would race to the point I felt it was ready to jump out of my chest. I experienced hot flashes in the middle of the night, and the joints in my body felt like they were on fire. I am about 6 months into my program and I can honestly say this is the best I have ever felt in my LIFE. I'm happier, more motivated to go out and do things,I have lost 50lbs and I can wake up in the morning and not feel like a cripple. Dr Hagmeyer has given me my life back. Go see him
