Besides being extremely rude, he was useless.
To everyone who had a negative experience with this doctor, it would do more good if we COMPLAINED to hospital and have him accountable for his lousy service.
In 1999, after waiting for months for an appointment, we saw Dr Peltz who supposedly specialized in fetal alcohol syndrome. He spoke to our adopted 15-year-old, alone for a few minutes then saw us. We came in, sat down and waited while discussed his vacation with a friend in a loud voice over the phone, all the while cleaning his nails with a letter opener. Once off the phone, he simply said "take her off all meds". End of appointment, no discussion about fetal alcohol syndrome, etc. What an incredibly rude, incompetent "doctor". How does someone such this continue to practice? I wish we had complained at the time.
I would NOT recommend Dr. Louis Peltz. His services are far from family centred. And, other professionals in the community routinely disagree with his findings. He is not accurate and can cost families a lot of grief by misdiagnosing or not diagnosing children that need more help.
I saw him when I was going through a really tough time, and his flippant behaviour did nothing to help. His almost demeaning and invasive questioning--coupled with making jokes about my mental state of health--was not helpful at all. I still bear emotional scars from seeing this horrible, horrible man.
I think the reason for the divergent opinions about Peltz is due to how he deals with certain situations. As a person, he's horrendous--like other posters have said, he lacks compassion (an essential quality of someone in his field. As a doctor? His competence is questionable. Personally, his "laid-back" attitude almost borders carelessness and apathy towards his patients. It almost seems like he doesn't care about doing his job at all.
