Very good doctor with an EXTREMELY RUDE receptionist. Who gives her the right to yell at parents children for being too loud. Not helpful at all. The visit would have been much better if there were better staff.
A great doctor with an extremely rude and not helpful receptionist. I guess all specialists always have a busy office but at least try to accommodate the always overbooked patients with cranky children due to the long wait time in a more welcoming tone. It seems that the doctor is always in a hurry...you wait 3-4 hours and then in a minute or two she will ask you to come back again in a few months.
From all the reviews I figure that she is the best but I fail to understand why every time I rush for my appointment time there is always a room full (at least 10 or more) patients already waiting for their appointments hours before mine was supposed to be....
Amazing. Compassionate. Caring. Wonderful. Just some of the words I think of when I think about Dr. Sigesmund. Yes, you have to wait, sometimes it is 3-4 hours, sometimes it is 1-2 hours. It sucks, but Dr. Sigesmund explained our daughters surgery and answered all of our questions clearly. On the day of the surgery Dr. Sigesmund came to get my daughter and talked to us immediately after the surgery to let us know what happened and how things went.
If you cannot give up 1-4 hours for your kid, don't bother going and explain to them in 10-20 years why their vision is gone or why it is horrible. The drops take time and I am glad Dr. Sigesmund puts the time in with her patients.
There is a shortage of pediatric ophthalmologists. Dr. Sigesmund puts in more hours a day then most, and does it with a smile. I wish she could be my daughters full time doctor.
This is the state of our health care. More money needs to be invested so that we can keep talented doctors in Canada.
I doubt Dr. Sigemund will ever read this, but in case she does .... you ROCK! Thank you for everything and please keep doing what you do.
When I think of Dr. S's office, I imagine it must be a lot like one of the outer rings of h-e-l-l. That said... Dr. Sigesmund is FANTASTIC. My family and I have been visiting her for 8 years and I trust her implicitly with my daughter's vision. I applaud her (and team) for working under such conditions. You think it's tough sitting there for an hour or two?! Imagine if that's where YOU worked! I hope that everyone who took the time to come here so they could complain, also takes the time to vote. Because apparently, Canadians have been voting for a government whose mandate is to dismantle our health care system. And THAT, my friends... is why you have to travel SO far, and wait SO long, in conditions not unlike those in the third world. VOTE!
Waited FOUR hours with a crying baby (eye drops gave him a fever!), it was 28 degrees in the office and I didn't find Dr. Sigesmund especially friendly. Yes, she knows her stuff but to overbook herself daily, makes absolutely no sense. Does SHE not get stressed out about dealing with angry patients and irritable children ALL THE TIME?! I get it, there's a shortage of specialists like her, but really, be considerate of peoples' valuable time already.
Dr. Sigesmund is incredible! I challenge anyone to say their child's vision isn't worth the long waits. You are asked to rate the doctor...not the waiting room - and to that I say she is the best at what she does. If people didn't miss appointments, cancel at the last minute or need a little more reassurance from an abundantly caring and brilliant physician, THEN there would be no waiting. My daughter is worth the waiting...she began reading within 3 months of getting corrective lenses...at the age of two and a half...and we owe it all to Dayle!
