Unfortunately, i am not able to select .5 stars for this doctor. I was under the impression that most individuals who become doctors do so because they care about people and their patients. This is COMPLETELY the opposite case when it comes with Dr. Richard Babkes. He actually yelled at me one time when i had to call his after hours line because my pharmacy told me that i had run out of refills and needed to contact my dr to have a new prescription written. I had run out of meds, so I had to call instead of waiting until regular business hours. But i thought that the after hours line was for AFTER HOUR emergencies???
So that's just one of many really bad experiences that I've had with him. Another is that he doesn't keep good records. Everytime i change jobs, the new insurance company requires that the doctor send over documentation to prove that i require the name brand version of the medication instead of the generics. He didn't remember that i had already tried the generic (as one of his patients) so he essentially said that he couldn't help me, and that I either had to take the generic or pay the $1000/month that the insurance company would force me to pay. Well needless to say that it resulted in VERY poor results when i took the generic, so he eventually wrote the required note to the insurance company so that i could take the name brand only. So fast forward 2 years and i change insurance companies again and what do you know...he does it again. No response from him when i tell him that i'm out of meds and the new insurance company is waiting on him to send documentation. I made several calls and received no response from him so i went to his office and got a history of my information from his secretary and let him know that I will be getting a new neurologist. Did he care. Nope. I guess he already knew that the chances of me being able to find a new neurologist within the next month or so was little to none (which i found out the next day)....especially since I was still out of meds. So i called him back the next day to kindly ask if he would still call the insurance company because i am still out of meds. His response was...actually, the response that he gave his secretary to tell me (because he wasn't even man enough to call me himself), was to tell your new Neurologist to call them. Wow...tell me that's not something you're 13 year old daughter would say to you (opposed to someone who is supposed to be a professional). Again...these are only a few of the childish, and unprofessional experiences that I've had with this doctor. Simply put...if you're looking for a GOOD doctor...look somewhere else.
I was treated with kindness and professionalism by the entire staff. Dr. Babkes was kind,and patient, . His diagnosis and treatment were right on target. He is the best Doctor I've ever seen. I was having physical problems that had not been treated properly. His treatment changed my life.
This doctor and his office gave me the worst medical help ever. The front desk ladies are very rude and make you feel very bad, even worse than you already felt. I called in to tell them I was running a few minutes late because of traffic. The lady that answer the phone was so rude saying that I had to be there 20m prior to my appointment when none of them had told me that when I scheduled. I was in allot of pain and literally begged her that I needed to be seen, it was only 5m late. She said come in and if he can see you he will, but so rude. Made me feel even worse. After getting there I was seen by doctor becker who is even more rude and short of patient old man I have ever met. He ordered an mri, which I did. I had to call him to request the results, the receptionist said he would call me back. When he did, he was rude and dismissive, only said you have a small bulb on your cervical but nothing to worry about, you have nothing. I asked but what about the terrible pain I have? He continued very short of patience like he wanted to hang up the phone, YOU HAVE NOTHING AND HANG UP THE PHONE. I was in shock. I called him back and was very mad and told him that that is not the way to treat a patient. He apologized and said that I did have a pinched nerve but to only continue taking the same medication. I will never go back to this doctor nor recommend anyone to him. Please don't see this old short of patience man.
I'm baffled by all the positive ratings. I don't know ----- maybe we asked too many questions about my mother's condition which obviously irritated him. In our experiences with Dr. Babkes, he was rude, short tempered and seemed to lack compassion.
Dr. Babkes is thorough and answers all of your questions. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to listen. His office functions very well with a caring staff. Never a wait! Always a pleasant office experience.
After numerous misdiagnosis' we finally met Dr. Babkas. Within days my husband had surgery and is now recovering. If only we had seen Dr. B sooner. My husband may not have had as sever spinal damage.
Dr. Babkes is very caring and knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose and cure my problem after several other neurologists were unable to do so. I appreciated that I was able to get an appointment so quickly, and that he really listened to me.
He cured my headaches after years of going to other doctors. I liked that he explained well and answered all my questions. I recommended him to a friend who said he was impressed, too. Best doctor ever, in my experience.
