I had a bilateral mastectomy done by Dr. Turner a couple weeks ago ..I had met him months prior as an introduction ... I can honestly say that I had made the mistakes of reading reviews of no bedside manner .. how he rushes you and so on and so forth ..the reality is I think people have to many high expectations of someone in a demanding field such as medicine and of surgeons in general .. They're not there to sympathize with you and hold your hand.. if you want that experience I suggest seeing a psychologist and getting your needs fulfilled there. My opinion of Dr Turner both times is this: He took the time to answer any questions I had both at my pre-op appointment and right before being wheeled into the O.R. He's very polite and professional. His work is Immaculate and lets face it at the end of the day that's ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS!! I'd suggest him to anyone who's looking for someone in his field .. and couldn't have asked for a better experience. ..Thank you! Melissa..V.

This is my second surgery with Dr Turner. My first was about 10 years ago, I wouldn't go to anyone else. Dr Turner may not be the best conversationalist, and you may not leave the office feeling warm and fuzzy, and that you've made a new BFF, but personally I am going for his skill as a surgeon, if I have questions, I call his office manager Dara. I have never found Turner to be rude, condescending or disrespectful. I do think that conversation and communication is not his strong point, but his skill as a surgeon is fantastic.

Dr.Turner knows what he is doing. I got my breast augmentation done by him and he did an amazing job! Him & his staff are very kind, helpful people, especially Darcy and Dara. The staff at Maples surgical were amazing too. I chose Dr.Turner since I had friends who went to him, and had great results. I recommend him if you want a BA.

I had a bilateral breast reduction and lift with lipo. Dr. Turner was a wonderful surgeon. From the initial consult he was very thorough in explaining the procedure and asked if I had any questions. The staff were wonderful and when I made my decision to have the surgery it was a matter of a month wait. Dr. Turner has a wonderful bedside manner and I felt totally comfortable with my decision. After the surgery if I needed to see the doctor I was in immediately. I would certainly see Dr. Turner again if need be. Kudos to this wonderful surgeon and his staff. Thank you.

I have recently had elective cosmetic surgery by Dr Turner. The entire process-from initial phone call to consults 1& 2, with surgery and follow up care- was handled with competence, respect, professionalism, and quality client centered care. I am a nurse, a fact that I chose not to reveal until sx was booked. My experience with Dr Turner and his staff was from the very beginning more than I could have hoped for. Dr Turner is greatly respected in the medical community and my personal experience from a patient's perspective rates extremely high. I have, and will continue to recommend Dr Turner in the future. :)

I was referred to "**** man" Turner(I later found out this is his nick name in medical circles by other doctors and nurses) by the Victoria hospital. I had broken my middle metacarpal in a sporting event. When in discussion with turner about the procedure to fix my hand he seemed to be very straight forward and to the point, making me feel he was very knowledgeable and very "straight to business" type of doctor. Which made me feel right at home for I am a get right to business and get it done type of guy! So I was surprised when after the surgery was over, it didn't got well!! I found out a week later that he hadn't made an incision in my hand to insure proper placement of the pins and setting of the bone! Long story short, he refuses to admit a mistake, won't fix it and now I am stuck with a misaligned metacarpal that causes me pain with almost everything I do because it doesn't line up properly with the rest of my fingers. Take caution if you use him, You might regret it!!

Dr. Turner may not be one to sit and have small talk with you about irrelevant details of your life. He's a doctor not your new best friend. I had a breast reduction in 2011 and I couldn't have been happier with the result. I came in from out of town and he and his staff were very accommodating with dates etc. the healing time was minimal. I went from a 36EE to a 34B. At the first consultation I was told half the amount would be removed and would most likely be left with a D or DD, I was unhappy as I would have been satisfied with an A. The day of the surgery he asked if half was okay, and as I explained I wanted more taken out he was happy to respect my wishes. He was a pleasant and rationale doctor to deal with but if you're looking to make a new friend by going to him, then he isn't the doctor for you. He is extremely wonderful and experienced at what he does. I wouldn't hesitate going back to him for any other procedures.

I had my breast augmentation back in December, they are never late for appointments always on time or ahead of time, when I thought I was having a problem after my surgery I called his cell number and he assured me nothing was wrong (which there wasn't), went for my follow up in January and then last week and everything was fine, I'm happy with the results, and when I asked him if I needed a lift he said no, if he wanted to make money off of me he would of said yes. His staff afterwards would always respond to my questions...yes I do agree sometimes he may not be too friendly, but I didn't go to Dr Turner's office to make friends, and even when I asked if I wanted a revision to have larger implants he said I didn't need them as my body frame is small...he may not spend much time on appointments but really how much time do you think he needs to look and make sure everything is okay and I don't feel the need for it or have the time if he had taken longer.

I want to personally advocate for this doctor, specifically for transgendered individuals. I underwent a double incision mastectomy with Dr.Turner so that I may take a step in my transition from female, to male. Now, a lot of FTM trans* people are worried about having surgery done here in Manitoba. But it was fully covered, and he did an AMAZING job. Why pay 7000 dollars out of province when you can have it done here? Just some food for thought. Dr.Turner was great, and his staff was equally as great. He was compassionate, understanding, RESPECTFUL of my gender identity. Highly recommended.
