My experience with Heilpern was the worst thing that's ever happened to me with a doctor. He was condescending , rude, and disrespectful. He and his nurse were like a tag team. When he left the room I questioned his nurse on his really shocking behavior towards me, and her eyes and mannerisms were utterly empty of compassion. My impression was that this is how he treats all his patients, and she was used to it, and really couldn't have cared less. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR.
The first impression was a shabby office with a display of shoes for sale in the reception area. His nurse/assistant was sullen and unfriendly. She took me to a tiny, shabby, poorly lit examination room. The exam table had to be folded up because the room was so small. Heilprin arrived and spoke as though he assumed I was going to have the procedure although I hadn't said so yet. They didn't take my BP or ask about my current meds. When I asked him to compare his procedure to an alternate his flippant answer was incorrect, meaning either he was lying or hasn’t kept up with his field. I was almost at the point of bolting, but went ahead with the exam, after which he reached for the infrared probe to start the treatment. At that point I said that I hadn't made up my mind to do it. He pulled the privacy blanket off me and then threw it at me, then threw the probe at the machine and stomped out of the room screaming "I can't help you," leaving the door wide open and exposing me. DON'T!
Doctor is very friendly & helpful if he can trade old world stories. He wanted to perform on my old & very sick mother an endoscopy, even though she had one 3 mos before in ICU & reports are available. On 2nd visit he came up with some laser treatment, NO physical exam took place to determine if this procedure is needed or called for, no pre procedure paperwork was given or discussed. We arrived for the procedure, the nurse, Mel gave us paperwork to review & said questions can be asked of the doctor when he comes in. Kept mom waitng 30 minutes (knowing she's anxious & prone to panic attacks) I wanted to know if after her 7 pints of blood transfusions & haert attack, going off blood thinners is a godo idea (another doctor said not to do another procedure as it is too hard for her system after what she's been through) instaed of hearing me & answering & perhaps setting my mind at ease,he started SCREAMING at the top of his lungs,no one can questions him, what he says goes. We went.
This guy is a waste of your time and your money. He does not care about you as a patient. He does not even read the reports on tests he himself may do until you have been sitting there and bring them up. He loves to call everything Irritable Bowel Syndrome and if he tells you that go somewhere else and get a better opinion. IBS is code for I have no idea and this about sums this doctor up.
Does not take a patient seriously. He cannot even be bothered to offer real answer to real questions. He orders tests and I do not think he reads them until you arrive. You get about 15 minutes of his time and begin to feel you are intruding and better leave. Very unhappy with this guy and would not go to him again.
