To whom it may concern, I went online to get tested they said it would take 1 day for results. It took them far longer then once results came in, the lab had no doctor to refer me to they just said go to go to a clinic to get taken care of, and that they will fax over my information. I had to start over again. Then I came to Dr. Arani and got treated. I really had a great experience at his facility the staff were great. I know next time this is the first place i come to.
I first went to my local physician who found 3 warts, froze them off, then said it wasn't anything too big to worry about and to read up on HPV. A week later those 3 turned to 9. I saw Dr Arani, mortified with what had happened over the last week, and decided if he said he'd get rid of these and it would take follow up appts at 2 months and 6, that gave me some feeling he was confident and wasn't shy about recommending his services and that he'd be available for phone calls anytime (which he has so far). Unfortunately, there's really no way to bring these kinds of conversations up when looking for referrals unless you're 100% sure that person has HPV. I'd love to talk to someone who's gone to Dr Arani and had success with this because I'm still very nervous and hope my money's been well spent. If anyone reads this and has had success with him, would you please email me at email@example.com? He was pretty good with me, but I really need some peace of mind here.
The good: true to his word, he allowed just a $20 consultation fee and didn't perform the expensive $400 STD tests unless I agreed. I didn't and he allowed me time to think about it. The bad: his degree was from a med school in the Caribbean. Hi everybody! The clinic is in South Central LA and its surroundings re-affirmed the stereotype of this neighborhood-- poor, run-down and scary. The clinic itself was ok but did give off a vibe that it's doing something shady. Anyway, Dr. Arani saw me and told me I needed to take his battery of tests for $400. I had already taken some of them with Kaiser. No matter, I needed to take them anyway. Seemed fishy to me so I told him I'd think about it and left. He seemed competent enough but seemed more like a salesman. Checkout his website and Youtube videos. His personality comes through. I plan to look elsewhere.
when i saw dr arani i was very skeptical. before you make the drive here are a few things i went through: he has an all female staff very young aged, hope you don't get embarrassed easily cause he will call them in to "help" without asking if your comfortable. they don't even do anything you yourself couldn't do. (ex. spreading your cheeks to the side) another thing is the whispering while your in the room. a lot of whispering went on while i was laying on the table completely vulnerable. however, he did seem to be very knowledgable, friendly, and accredited, he will not have sympothy for those who cannot afford his procedure. he charges 100 to 300 each wart depending on the size. i myself had dozens and he decided to not count them but give me an outrageous overall price of 15 thousand dollars. me being 24 and had tried everything else decided to go for it. it is still day 1 so i cannot give you my full review. my advice is at least get a 50 consult cause the condition will get worse.
I am writing this review to alert others to this place. I didn't actually go to the Clinic, I merely called in to get one piece of information, do they themselves, or do they know anyone who, would have a traveling clinic and would be interested in coming to our school to hold a vaccination clinic for Pertussis. Being as there are many babies that come through, and the lack of knowledge in the community, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get word out and get many people boosters. Knowing how supposedly passionate this man is about vaccinations, I thought it was a good place to call. However, what I encountered was VERY rude service, I was hung up on after being told they were not interested in helping me. Very rude indeed, they acted like I was making a prank call. I called back and was given no apology and no information other than to call back another time. Very disappointed that a place so interested in providing vaccines would act this way.
On time despite I did not have any appointment and I walked in, their doctor was very helpfull. He told me what was wrong. I did not have to do any testing. Told me to put some cream. I bought the anti fungus cream from the store and the problem was gone in 2 days.
I strongly discourage visits to Dr. Arani for HPV/genital warts. His priority is to make money. Had several small warts in pelvic area. Nothing extreme like on his web site. He recommended only one solution. Surgical removal. There are about six common treatments for genital warts. Arani only prescribes one, and it happens to be the most invasive and costly. He wanted about $150 per wart. So twenty small warts would be $3000 in cash. I later saw a doctor at UCLA. Got prescription for Podofilox-an FDA approved drug for warts. After application, warts were gone in a week. Prescription cost about $100; $2900 less than what I would have owed Arani. He claims such drugs don’t work (despite medical evidence) therefore, he does not write prescriptions. Basically, Arani does not write prescriptions because there's no money to be made by doing so. Do yourself a favor. Go see a doctor at a reputable place like UCLA, Cedars, etc. You will save time and money and get better quality care.
I personally think this guy is a joke taking advantage of people that are emotionally vulnerable. When most of the consult is about how much things costs, this guy's agenda is clearly to make money. Check your facts about your condition and the tests that you may need. Then test this guys knowledge. You will find that he may have some incorrect information because he is there to take your blood and send it off to the lab. Mine was for HIV testing. I can get a regular blood test for HIV for $150 or go for the sure thing (blood pool sampling) for $495. A few weeks ago, I would have said ok. But now that I had some time to calm down, I was able to tell this guy no. I paid for my consult and left. THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS. Don't go to him.
