I am not a patient but witnessed this doctors very rude behaviour towards his patients. Shocking.

Long story short, i’m still alive partly because of him (along with myself and my therapist). I feel like he truly cares about me and what’s going on with me. He’s definitely a workaholic and must like to keep busy, but I think he takes on a little too much work that sometimes things are forgotten. At the end of the day, i’m glad he ended up being my psychiatrist. When I am particularly down he’ll always try and get a laugh out of me which is something I appreciate. He also listens to my concerns with my medications.

I don't believe he actually cares about the people that come to see him. He rarely if ever asks any relevant questions other than how are you feeling. He doesn't reframe it, dig, or discuss. Like as a mental health professional how basic could you be, you are asking people who can't comprehend their emotions in many cases and your just asking them how they feel? He does not try to understand anything, he just says you have depression, take meds and seek therapy. When I challenged him on that, his response was find another psychiatrist for a second opinion then. Brother, if it was that easy, you and I would have stopped talking years ago. He didn't inquire why I was questioning his diagnosis, why I felt the way I did, nothing, just immediately defensive. I went for major concerns and distress due to anxiety, motivation, and suicidal ideation, my therapist and other professionals in mental health I have spoken to regarding Dr. Beshai have all but confirmed he did the very basic bare minimum, and this is not an isolated incident according to a few people I've spoken to that had experience with him before, both patients and mental health professionals. I feel his lack of care and attention put me a position where I definitely could have harmed myself had I not had the people around me that I did. I will likely be filing a complaint to the college of physicians. He does not seem to care, the air of arrogance around him is palpable, people are not his priority. Also consistently late, with an excuse everytime, I also asked him about the lateness, his reply was to find another psychiatrist again. Why is this man even in a position for people to come to him for help? I feel so sorry for those that he has misdiagnosed or he ignored and didn't have the awareness to understand what was happening and their care could have been so much better.

I feel bad for him. He truly has your best interests at heart but is so hopelessly overbooked and overwhelmed. He has always been good to me and tries to joke to lighten my mood. I can see where others frustrations come from, but i’ve honestly had a good experience with him so far and I feel cared about.

In reading the last dozen or so posts here I see that things have gotten even worse than the days I was a patient of Dr. Beshai, some years ago. I remember waiting I think three hours or so for one appointment at his office in red deer, at the discovery medical clinic. One hour wait would be typical. I do believe that he genuinely wants to help people, but for whatever reason he seems to be hopelessly overbooked, and trying to get him to complete any paperwork in a reasonably timely manner Is like trying to drink whiskey from a bottle of wine, or find gold in a copper mine. I agree with the comments that this guy needs to retire. It's overdue. Psychologists are very helpful, but many disability claims require the written opinion of a psychiatrist who is also technically a medical doctor, whereas a psychologist is not.

This doctor is completely uninterested in anything I say, looks drugged , likes to show pictures of his partner? Very strange and kind of scary considering so many people are desperate for mental health help and this guy needs it more than any of his patients ...

He is always running late. An hour to 2 hrs late. Is more interested in bullsh$tting with receptionists. Once in the appointment he is uninterested in hearing what is being said. Would rather fool around on his phone, with his hair or with paperwork unrelated to the appointment, or falls asleep. My second appointment with this quack i gave him the list of mood stabilizers I've tired which all made my Illness worse and often led me to be admitted. The third appointment he gave me a prescription for 2 meds... both I've tried in the past and they both made my suicidal ideation and depression worse. Needless to say I was advised by my family doctor to not see him again.

Seen Beshai years ago. His incompetence combined with his inability to accomplish paperwork lends to his overall uselessness as a physician. Averaging two hours behind every scheduled appointment, his prescriptions are always in dosage amounts that indicate financial kickback from the drug companies. He also shows little regard for extremely detrimental side effects caused by his abstract prescribing. I encourage his patients to inquire about how many patients he has 'lost' (Or murdered) over his time practicing. Beware, and always find a second opinion.
