Best Doctor we ever had you well be sadly missed if you ever get back let me know
Dr Healley is a great doctor! I cannot believe that I just heard about why he has been off! I have been waiting for him to return as he is a fantastic doctor. My two children & I have been patients of his since we moved to Calgary in 2006. He doesn't prescribe drugs unless it is necessary, he is thorough and very perceptive! And he was the best doctor I could have possibly had when I found out I had breast cancer. Him and his staff were supportive and he acted so quickly and I have known others (even those who pay extra for healthcare) and they did not receive the same care and support that I did! I really do hope that he comes back - we all miss having him as our doctor!
Dr Healley's suspension has resulted in Calgary's loss of a fine doctor. He was never anything less than warm and compassionate towards me, reminiscent of a time when doctors were typically more about patient care than the ka-ching, ka-ching of a heavy client load. He was detailed in his follow up, determined in his quest to find a solution to one's medical issues. I do hope he returns to his practice here in Calgary.
Dr Heally is the most Kind, Compassionate and Competent doctor that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The manner in which he looked after my mom was exemplary and we are indebted to him for showing her so much humor and compassion when she was dealing with her tongue blisters. His care for me when I had a heart attack was exceptional and re-assuring. He listened and allowed me to debate with him the merits of certain medications. He was always open to letting me ask questions and yet was firm but polite in his answers. Dr Heally is a very very good doctor and I look forward to him resuming his medical practice.
No one will be as good as Dr. Healley. I respected the fact that he wasn't quick to write you a prescription when something came up. For example, I was lucky to be able to take an additional 6 months off after I had my daughter, but I found I started to get depressed. I went to see Dr. Healley about putting me on anti-depressants. Instead he took the time to understand what was going on in my life and told me "Get a job. Everything will be better when you get a job. You'll see." And he was right! He always was. He knew what he was doing and he took the time to get to know you. I live in the NW and his office was in the SE...it was well worth the drive and my time. I've been looking for a new family doctor and have met with a couple but it's just disappointment after disappointment. Dr. Healley raised the bar with my expectation for a doctor and I'm not sure if anyone will ever be at his level.
Heally is the best doctor I've ever had, and unfortunately he is out of the country for an extended leave. I have yet to be to his replacement, but other family members have and say he is excellent as well. I've had gastrointestinal issues my entire life as well as chronic migraines, I've been to over a dozen doctors none of whom were able to make seemingly simple observations (in hindsight) to solve my problems. Heally addressed both of my issues on my first visit and I'm living much healthier now as a result of his incredible knowledge. He is quite brief in his appointments, and doesn't chit-chat, but I'm fine with that as I want someone who addresses my issues and not someone to talk to about sports. He can be late for appointments on occasion, but never more than 15-30 minutes. His staff is fantastic as well. I'll be extremely sad when he retires.
We have 4 children & have been blessed to have Dr. Healley as part of our care team. Many times, he has seen one of my sick children first thing in the a.m. when I've showed up with no appt. He's taken many hours out of his time to research other options when one of my children wasn't responding to treatment by specialists. What they couldn't change over 7.5 years, he helped with in 1 week, completely changing the quality of her life and enabling her attend school 95% of the time, instead of 50%. He has taken the time to speak with and help my older son when he was struggling and has been there for us when we were desperate for ideas, guidance and suggestions to help the family, not just the child. He's personally picked up the phone on a Sat., when he was in doing paper work, allowing me to bring in a child with a UTI - he could have sent us to Emerg., to wait for hours. We have been truly lucky to have someone who cares and wants to make a difference in our lives.
