In 2001 my mammogram showed a "shadow" and my family doctor referred me to Dr. Cuddington to review the film and discuss my options. I was booked for an appointment within 2 weeks. He recommended a fine-wire biopsy be done to confirm if it was CA or not. The hospital nurses were due to walk-out that week so after having the wire inserted he met me in the day-surgery area and under local anaesthetic he took the sample and sent it for biopsy. The presence of cancer cells was confirmed 4 days later. I then met with Dr. C. and asked if my husband and daughter could join us & he agreed, saying it was a good idea. He clearly explained what the tests showed and my various options for treatment. After answering all questions from the 3 of us he left us to discuss. When he returned we said I was electing lumpectomy treatment with the lymphnodes checked. If presence of CA detected then he would excise them. My surgery was booked was successful. I am now 11yrs cancer free. Thanks Dr. C.
In 2010, I went in for a routine gallbladder removal. My common bile duct (or some other duct) was cut BY ACCIDENT. Oopsie. I was sent home after a few days but returned by ambulance hours later. I was hallucinating from the pain. Cuddington was dismissive to my parents who were making inquiries on my behalf as I was unable to make my own medical decisions and refused to return calls, lectured us angrily and went on holidays. This was very important for him to do...Mexico much more important. Surgeon on call had not been apprised of my case. I had emergency surgery. I have had many complications and continue to have them. The BC College of Physicians has found no fault, and I have escalated this matter to the Ombudsman. I would love to hear from anyone else who has lodged a complaint with the College. He has a lawyer now. This might explain why he's cranky. Meanwhile, still suffering, house gone, divorce being finalized and can't work anymore. Thanks Cuddington.
Very rude, argumentative, standoffish and generally unpleasant to be around. Makes his residents do all the blunt work often resulting in confusion for doctors and patients. Doesn't allow the patient to ask questions and when questions are asked he's very dismissive and get's defensive. If I was to write down everything that went wrong I'd have a novel. You're better off seeing a veterinarian. Run.
This so called surgeon put me in pain for 7 years after a benign hernia repair. The operation was so poorly done that caused several major complications. The nylon mesh was pushed to the abdomen cavity causing adhesions and partial intestine obstruction. I started having painful cramps the next day. When I told him about cramps I hadn't have before he brushed me off saying it had nothing to do with the surgery. I had daily cramp attacks for 7 years, every time I had veggies or fiber-rich food. A traumatic repainr of the inguinal channel also caused pinched and damaged nerve. After the agony became unbearable, I insisted on seeing another surgeon. Dr Warnock, a wonderful surgeon and human being, perfumed a laparoscopic exam, found the mesh inside peritoneal cavity causing scarring and adhesions and removed them. The laparoscopic pictures clearly showed Dr Cardington’s ****y work. I got my life back and never had cramps ever since. Stay away from this incompetent and arrogant pers
I learned that Dr Cuddington has an excellent reputation in medical circles, and this was re-affirmed in my case when he performed a hernia operation. He carefully explained the operation procedure beforehand, including the post operation care I should follow. He has a wry sense of humor and patiently listened to my questions. His office manager/receptionist is superb; giving you her full attention at all times and keeping you fully informed as to hospital procedures, etc., She also scheduled a post operative appointment with Dr.Cuddington for evaluation purposes.
this doctor has no patience for people with differences, didn't consider the ramifications of asking family member to interpret for patient, should understand better to hire professional medical interpreter and allow time for patients to ask questions. He disappeared before we could even ask for clarification! (see previous rating)
Terrible follow up to surgery. Left patient in horrendous pain for days and other doctors had to clean up the mess he left (to go on holiday). Told family, asking questions, that they stressed him.
